NFT: Thor: Love and Thunder full trailer released

Ben in Tampa : 5/24/2022 8:50 am
Christian Bale's character looks awesome. The mostly monochrome look reminds me of Sin City. Unique for the MCU.

Hard to believe they've made four Thor movies, considering the first two were probably the worst two movies Marvel has produced.

They basically rebooted the franchise with the third. This drops in July.
Thor: Love and Thunder - ( New Window )
Yeah, agree that first two Thor movies were not good.

But the third was just a lot of fun. This one looks to be really good too. Bale looks great.
Hopefully Natalie Portman is not the common

denominator of the bad Thor movies.

Because Ragnarok was great

The first Thor was fine. Second one was trash. Probably the worst or second worst of the MCU. Iron Man 2 would be the other worst for me.
I am very excited for this

and it is obvious (though not obvious how they will do it) that GOR will also be bringing in the Symbiote species and aspect to Marvel. (if you don't know look it up and watch teh trailer again where Gor is walking through tendrils.
I liked all the Thor movies - even the ones with Natalie Portman
PatersonPlank : 5/24/2022 9:29 am : link
Ragnarok and the first one are my favorites.
I also liked "fat Thor" in Avengers, thought that was great.
Haven't watched much of Thor after 1
UConn4523 : 5/24/2022 9:39 am : link
but I might see this just to see Bale be a villain. Don't really care about the MCU tie in stuff, never interested me.
I love the way Marval

The reason Thor Ragnarok was so good
Jay on the Island : 5/24/2022 9:54 am : link
Was because 70% of the dialogue was improvised. Korg was supposed to have only two lines but Hemsworth thought he was hilarious and demanded that they expand the role. Hopefully they followed this same plan for this movie but it will be more difficult with big names like Bale and Portman.
I loved Ragnarok and adore Taika Waititi
j_rud : 5/24/2022 9:58 am : link
but I just don't have a good feeling about this movie.
I still have the original comic book
Bubba : 5/24/2022 10:46 am : link
the first Thor movie was based on where Loki releases the Destroyer.

Speaking of improvised lines - the famous "It's ok, he's a friend from work" line that Thor says when he finds Hulk is his competitor - was actually thought up by a make a wish kid who was on set for the filming. Cool stuff

I think Taika is straddling that line of overexposed. He's freaking hilarious, but is everywhere at the moment. Have the same concern about this one, though I can't wait to see it.

Yea that was a classic line and too. Also the “get help” elevator scene was a complete improvisation by Hemsworth and Middleton.
Hiddleston not Middleton

eh I thought the first movie was quite good. It's the second one that was poor. Right there with Ironman2
Thor has been my favorite MCU character to date
Matt M. : 5/24/2022 3:49 pm : link
I enjoyed the first movie, thought the 2nd was eh, and loved Ragnorak. Plus, his work in the Avengers movies, the shorts on Dianey+, etc. Hemsworth has been great in this role.

That said, I was really looking forward to this one , especially after the first trailer, but my expectations have lowered. I look forward to Bale, but Hemsworth/Portman stuff seemed very forced. Who knows though. Maybe they just nailed the awkwardness between them.
First Thor movie was just OK
NYG27 : 5/24/2022 4:20 pm : link
Good introduction to the character to the MCU. Just wished Thor had a better villain to battle in that final scene in the first movie. Instead we got stuck with the Destroyer armor controlled by Loki.

Thor 2: The Dark World was one of the three worst MCU films. Right there with Iron Man 2 and 3. Several fans are still annoyed by "Trevor" the fake Mandarin in Iron Man 3.

Thor Ragnarok was just so much fun and looking forward to Lover and Thunder. Christian Bale looks amazing as Gorr the God Butcher and I wonder if Marvel will use his sword as a way to introduce symbiotes to the MCU (not counting Eddie Brock on vacation in the end credit scene of Spiderman No Way Home).
Thor is pretty awesome now
jamison884 : 5/24/2022 5:18 pm : link
Hemsworth apparently loves the character and wants to just keep going, unlike Ironman and Cap. hah.

That dude is just insane. I knew he was crazy built, but that scene in the trailer where he goes nude. The dude is hiding like a world-class natural physique under those costumes. He basically does all that for every Thor film when we're usually limited to his arms exposed. I think that's the difference between the average population and these highly successful people in entertainment, sports, and tech especially. They just have an unlimited amount of willpower to set any goal they want and get it done via countless hours of hard work and painful growth.

I say tech too merely due to the hours Elon puts in. When he was turning around Tesla, one quarter away from bankruptcy, he averaged 2-3 hours of sleep in his office for months apparently. I bitch internally when I have to work an extra two hours one night during the week.
maybe its just the colors and the CGI backgrounds
Kevin999 : 5/24/2022 5:41 pm : link
but I gave a major cheesy Flash Gordon vibe from that trailer.

I'm sure if they kept on with stoic Thor, he might have wanted out too, but now that they've gone full blown slapstick Thor it's probably become fun again.
Felt like Ironman 2 and 3 were pretty bad too
widmerseyebrow : 5/24/2022 5:49 pm : link
which is ironic since Downey Jr. had one of if not the best leading character in the the Avenger movies.
Jamming Portman
LauderdaleMatty : 5/24/2022 10:29 pm : link
Back in seems a bad idea to me. . Ragnarok was awesome. This one is going to have its good parts but my guess is some of the best will be w the Guardians crew.

Natalie Portman has been in the worst Marvel, and Star Wars movies
first thor is fine....
Italianju : 5/27/2022 12:22 pm : link
its on par with a handful of marvel movies. Second one not so much.

As for Portman, this story line in the comics was pretty popular and i think thats why they wanted to do it. And if your going to do it you had to bring Portman back. So i dont really see it as jamming her back in. The problem with Thor 2 (and the prequels, lol) is not really portman.
I'm well past

enjoying Thor being the butt of every bad joke that circulates with increasing enthusiasm.

Should be otherwise enjoyable but the entire MCU phase has been trash because social justice and virtue signaling appears to be paramount.
