The league is planning to launch NFL Plus in July. Sports Business Journal’s Ben Fischer reports it has been approved during this week’s owners meetings in Atlanta. First reported back in March, NFL Plus will allow users to stream live games on mobile devices for a price of $5 per month. Though other content may be available with the service, you’re paying to watch games in your market. Games outside of the market you reside in will not be available, so for Cincinnati Bengals fans in the area, this will be a way to watch Bengals games on your phone. Such a product is not entirely new for NFL fans. The NFL had deals with Yahoo! and Verizon to stream live in-market games, but with those contracts now expired, the league is going forward with their own product for the time-being. The NFL is still looking for new media partners, such as Apple and Amazon, and NFL Plus “could be folded into that package,” per Fischer. While it sounds similar to NFL Game Pass, you cannot watch live games with Game Pass in the United States. NFL Plus gives you that option. |
Last few years I've used international game pass with a VPN. I work Sunday mornings, usually get home at half time of the 1pm games...the watch from beginning for a game still going is awesome.
Isn't Youtube delayed 24 hours?
Nothing as far as I can tell. I can already do what that app does, but $5 is a good deal if you're in the market and are a FB junkie.
I'd imagine we see this in some form in 2023 as this is the last year of the DirecTV/Sunday Ticket contract
NFL Game Pass Europe does it and on occasion I have set my VPN location to Europe and signed up for a day.
Works great, it's expensive for one-game or an entire weeks worth of games, but I would gladly pay it.
Bingo. Otherwise, I'm stuck watching the Saints and Titans. And I already get all their games on my HD antenna.
Can't believe the NFL still hasn't figured out a way to take my money to stream out-of-market Giants broadcasts.
Yeah I wonder what the maps will look like too here in CT if they consider me NY Giants, NY Jets or Pats? As of now it makes more sense to just pirate stream any game I want to watch for $0.
How were all games free for everyone? You had access to your local games free and whatever national games they showed. That still exists.

Agree with this. Don't understand why there is not an option to get individual game streams for $9.99 or something similar. Out of market fans who may need to stream 10 or more games a year are paying you upwards of $100, and you are likely pulling in more folks who don't want to pony up $300 for Sunday Ticket.
Make it $9.99 per game or the full slate of weekend games for $29.99 or something in addition to the Sunday Ticket offering.
Still an OK deal for cord cutters though.

turning the NFL into a garbage niche league like MLB/NBA/NHL. Rozelle and Tagliabue transformed the NFL from a league as popular as water polo to the most successful entertainment franchise in the world because they ensured all games were free big tent events for the viewers.

Monday and Thursday night football.
In my situation I'd gladly pay 5 bucks a month during football season and test out my VPN to see if I can easily plug in to other cities. My feeling is that they might not be trying very hard to block VPNs for this next year and after that they can do whatever they want.
Again, this is all probably just a preview of what is to come. $5 a month for local this year, then $X a month for "premium" packages once their DirectTV deal is over.
Not only am I not able to watch every game live as it is broadcast, but I don't want to. I really like rewinding to rewatch plays and then ffwding through commercials and halftime.

I don't think Goodell took away free Thursday night football since it started in 2006 which was the same year it started. If you are in market it is still available free. If you are out of market, you wouldn't have seen it if it were on Sunday before.
Sorry to ruin your odd rant with facts.
Your posts are consistently foolish.
Yup, it seems to be directed to those without any cable sub and want to watch on their mobile (based on these reports).
Not sure how big that market is, but they're basically folding what Verizon did "in house".

But I would think every other service around here allows you to stream their channels.
