Roster management notes for next season, via NFLN:

- Players placed on IR now miss a minimum of 4 games (not 3).
- Up to 8 players can be designated to return from IR.
- Players can come back from IR twice in one year.
- Teams can have up to 16 players on the practice squad.
Outside of the first one...

Seems good for teams.
What is the NLF's preoccupation with

restrictive IL rules ?
all of those

UDFAs the Giants signed just saw their odds dramatically increase.

They don't want teams using the IL to stash players that don't make the 53 man roster.
Wish they increased the roster

A few spots and didn’t make players have to be inactive on game day.

Back in the day, the Washington Redskins used to infamously stash non-injured players on IR.
The 16-man practice squad will help vets as well as UDFAs.

That’s especially true at positions like WR or LB, where the team was not very active in the UDFA market.

Good call on the WRs, especially with guys like Sills, Bachman, Proehl, etc.

Unless they change it, I believe at least 10 of the 16 have to have maximum of 2 vested years in the league.
Does the following still apply?
Des51 : 5/25/2022 11:34 pm : link
Of the 16 PS players can 6 be veterans
Can 2 players be called up to make the roster at 55 on game day and not have to go through waivers in order to go back to the Practice Squad and can they only be called up twice during the season.
Are 4 players on the Practice Squad protected each week.
Which Giant

will be the first player in NFL history to come back from injured reserve twice in one season?

I'd put my money on K-Toney. The dude can have like three mini-seasons now.

I am more interested in rule changes regarding players moving to and from the practice squad than any other roster management rules. You are right for focusing on this issue.

Kadarius Toney!
If players play hurt, it benefits neither the players

nor the teams. Thus, the change in rules despite the possibility of teams gaming the system. I'm guessing that the League will do a more thorough job of self-policing in the future.

I think it's safe to say that the owners and the players' union both recognize that the increase in the number of games causes a corresponding increase in injuries. Players are bigger and faster than ever, which causes more injuries. The increase in injuries makes it likely that even more players will want to, or be forced to, play hurt this season.
