It's a new series, folks. Let's win this game tonight at Madison Square PNC Arena and then head home and ADVANCE. Best not keep the Lightning waiting!
Believe in this team. Believe what this team can accomplish. And best believe that there's no QUIT in NY!
Laf with a goal tonight.
Tonight they win on the road and break the Canes.
I don't even think the Rangers have played that well even though I think they have outplayed CAR.
The one piece of good fortune I will mention is after two series the Rangers have played backup goalies (except game 7 vs PIT). and I don't say that as a negative vs NYR - Raanta has been very good, but more as a fact and no one will ever give a shit if the Rangers win a cup, but it's that kind of good fortune that helps build the confidence needed to win 16 playoff games.
So just win.

Nothing wrong with acknowledging that re: goalies. Fair to say the whole complexion of the Penguins series changed when Crosby got knocked out.
And boo hoo with Pittsburgh excuses about that, welcome to playoff hockey. It’s a game of attrition and luck as much as skill to get through 4 rounds.
As a Rangers fan I’ll always wonder “what if” a little bit had Zuccarello not gotten knocked out by a slap shot to the head in the first round in 2015…but crying about it was a waste of energy then as it is now
And about a half dozen other injuries in those playoffs as well, particularly McDonagh playing on a broken foot.
Same here..all of it. lol
Obviously tonight isn't happening, but I'm really curious about Goodrow and maybe even Blais, if they would be available for Tampa if they were to get that far.
NYR have done a really great job of neutralizing Tony D and Pesce and I think we have them off their game right now. Loved how G4 ended.. they're very frustrated.
Igor's "A" game has returned.
Get it done.

There have been 2 times in my life where I was 100% certain my team was going to win a championship: Walking out of MetLife after the 24-2 win over Atlanta, and the 2015 Rangers. That game 7 loss to Tampa is up there among my worst sports losses with the Yankees/D-Backs in ‘01 and, well, pick a miserable Giants meltdown. I knew it was bad news going into game 7 when they dressed Matt Hunwick, and McDonagh was clearly nowhere near 100%. I was really confident they’d be able to beat Chicago and to this day believe they would have.
Let's get this one first.

No but I'll buy you a beer at the game if you get into the building.
Let's get this one first.
My brother found out the same. We're going to Game 6. I have to admit, I am quite nervous about being in such close proximity indoors with so many maskless people, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance and I couldn't pass it up. I might be the only one wearing a mask, though. Haha

my whole family had COVID three weeks ago. As of this morning, my wife was the last straggler and just tested negative.
SO NOW I'M INVINCIBLE!!!
Make some noise!

As far as I know, I've avoided to get COVID (at least symptomatic COVID). But even though I'm vaxed (and I got my booster in October), I'm at risk for serious illness/long COVID due to my autoimmune disease. But it's the Playoffs! I'm just gonna have to be cautious. I won't eat or drink anything and will wear my KN95 mask the entire time.

Shit, put that in your son's college fund! Too expensive!

Thanks so much, LT56!
Could be a good thing, put some doubt in there decision making. One soft goal and the calls for a switch will start.
I don't think Andersen's good enough for me to care if he's in.

You too, buddy.
It'd be nice to see them throw him in Jarry-style. He hasn't played in over a month, could easily go sideways on them.
40 minutes to go. Apply pressure.
Nope. Didn't fucking get back in time.
It was off-sides. Rules are rules.
Not wrong here. Losing the Strome goal sucks, but we’d want the rule applied the same way for us.
Rangers getting outskated and outhit most of the night so far. Need to step it the fuck up

Quit making excuses and realize this pussy offense needs to wake up. 9 fucking shots on goal in the second period is PATHETIC.

Gallant needs to reshuffle these lines like he did at MSG.
And its not just him. No one getting the puck deep, bunch of touch passes in the neutral zone
Carolina again harder on the puck, winning the battles, and of course interfering like crazy and not getting called for it

From your lips to God's ears...
and it's still a one shot game

Not anymore...dammit
Still dont see either team beating TB or even coming all that close to beating them.
What luck are you looking for? You need to compete to get lucky.
Rangers played a really soft game

Carolina came to play in that third period. We didn’t. They made their luck—we didn’t tonight
While Carolina skated through clean most of the game.
Not much to say after this one. They took us apart from the opening puck drop. Igor and some luck is the only reason it was close
Game 6, do or die, let’s see if this squad can find its nuts when the chips are down yet again

I agree the Rangers got out played in third period but Car only tie it. Their winning goal in OT was pure luck.
Just got out worked most, if not all of the final 2 periods.
I’ve just about had it with Panarin. If they’re not on the PP, he’s just about worthless. He REFUSES to shoot the fucking puck. It’s getting ridiculous at this point. He turns the puck over each time he touches it on some shifts.
Kakko is invisible on the 4th line. Might as well keep Chytil on the first line.

Agree on all. I have never seen a team so inept when they have numbers on a break. They are either late with the pass, or they get gobbled up by a sliding defender. Raanta leaves a pretty big 5 hole.
The whiffs continued for Trouba.
Again, many stupid forced passes and the blue line instead of getting it deep.
I thought this was Miller's worst game. I know his game isn't to clobber people, but he's big enough that when he has a player on the boards he should finish the check. How many times last night did he just continue to skate with and poke check along boards instead stopping the play with a body check? He looked like Deion Sanders they way he was avoiding contact.
I don't know what else to say about Panarin. Charmin soft. Mr. November. Refuses to take open shots. Nauseating.
Do or die again on Saturday.
The odd thing to me was how many plays the rangers just completed whiffed or mis-hit pucks in the neutral zone that should have been put deep.
They were having a brutal time exiting their own zone with possession, and then when they did, it felt like they could hit water from a boat in the middle of the ocean, either due to a stupid decision or physically flubbing the puck.
- refused to take the beats' bait that the top 6 were crap, saying 'I wouldn't put it on them, it was the entire team'.
Agree the entire team played crap, but the top 6 led the charge.
- said the team looked 'tired', but then tweaked that by saying 'they weren't competing' enough.
'Tired' (someone above said, yeah, 'it (tired) happens'; wtf?). 'Tired?" (played to Jim Mora's 'Playoffs, playoffs??') htf do 20 somethings play 'tired' in a crucial, nearly make-or-break game 5 on the road? I think this was more coach speak trying not to throw his team under the bus for all to see in a non-performance in which they were embarrassed, dominated.
- On Svechnikov's 'breakaway': GG said, well, 'unfortunate the puck took that hop over Foxy's stick'. And Giannone in the PG refers to 'the breakaway goal' as if that was all there was too it, not mentioning Fox.
Sheesh, Seamus, Fox was standing flat-footed just outside BL, a tad toward the red line from where Svechnikov was marking. Fox's anticipation/awareness were AWOL there, mere stick length + 1/2 away from one of the best offensive threats in the game, and he knew it after leaving Igor hung out to dry, not Igor's best effort either.
- 'these guys seems to play better with their backs against the wall, they've been doing it all season'. [Although here, that may have been in MSG PG, not Gallant.]
Keep reading and believing the back pages, guys. The caliber of Kreider's play on the ice was exceeded only by his hang-dog PG commentary. Own up, guy.
