That seems to confirm what many suspected. What a f*cking clown show.
Points?! We don't need no stinking points!
did you watch the games last year? I dont think Judge tried to do anything exciting on offense.
the problem was that's not how the NFL works anymore and the defense wasn't oriented to stop anyone when the tempo picked up (as it always will in 2 minute situations).
in 2020 they won a few games when individual players on defense made big plays to end games - logan ryan jumped a few ints, williams got some big sacks, etc.
in 2021 jackson dropped an INT that would have won a game and the defense gave up points on every 2 minute drive.
but they lost games they should have won by putting those games on the defense and not aggressively trying to win on offense.
most of the good defense came at the end of 2020 during the short run where the OL played well enough for them to actually play ball control offense, in the other 25 games when they couldn't block anyone the defense failed time and time again, likely in part because they were being put in a no win situation.
he's gonna get pup'd and even if he was close, that might be the right move any way. free extra player. same thing with peart even though i suspect he's closer to the field than gates.
Judge was a fucking nightmare of a hire. We all loved him, myself included but I never saw a coach all but celebrate failure like he did.
Scoring points has been a lost art of the NYG over these years...

What is it about this offense that was different from last year; one of his remarks was “scoring points is one of our main goals”. was this not a main goal last year?

IMO, last year Judge/Garrett were more interested in Time of Possession and keeping the game close than opening it up to score points. Their whole deal seemed to be to limit the opposing teams chances, and win a close one at the end. Circa 199 Super Bowl vs the Bills
The double kneel down says it all.
You should probably mentally prep yourself as it's very possible his career is over. Almost no chance he plays this season and if he can return in 2023 he'll have a big hill to climb to make a roster.
What makes you think it was? You definitely couldn't tell by the play on the field.
