im still not sure wink is the guaranteed homerun some other DCs may have been but i think he's a better option than Graham. he's here because he's motivated to get a HC job and if he comes through with this group he will probably get it.

I'm not sure how they could have done better than Wink.

Agreed. He was the best out there, imv
Fangio and Schwartz have done it in multiple stops
Wink's Ravens resume is great but those guys have built very good defenses in a bunch of spots.
Schwartz is a d-bag and scheme wise may not have been a fit so i get passing on him and Fangio decided to take the year off, but if he hadn't i think i'd have put him above Wink.

Wink is chaos! That separates him from the others, imo. And yes, of course he gets burned at times with that approach, but I don’t care. I want fear from opponents, not laughter
I hadn't heard him speak and was expecting Rob/Rex/Buddy Ryan bravado. While he wasn't at that level, I like his confidence and he seemed to answer all the questions 'correctly', not throwing the past staff under the bus too much (change of culture comment at the end). Hoping he can help get us some stops on 3rd down when we need them and definitely put the QB on his back, both things this D hasn't been able to do for too many years. But like the rest of this team, I'll wait til they play some games and win some to start getting excited and judging.
that there are some concerns. With that said, I'm happy to have Wink. We also could have done a lot worse. I want to see stats on a per X possession like the NBA does. The Ravens had a ball controlled offense that helped their defense so the PPG and YPG look great.

Wink is 59 years old.
He isn’t getting a HC opportunity anytime soon.
Why not?
Todd Bowles (TB) 58
Mike McCarthy (Dal) 58
John Harbaugh (Bal) 59
Ron Rivera (Was) 60
Frank Reich (Ind) 60
Lovie Smith (Hou) 63
Andy Reid (KC) 64 - won his 1st SB at 61
Bill Belichek (NE) 69
Pet Carroll (Sea) 70
age doesn't have much to do with Wink getting a HC

The 3 years prior to last year (when Baltimore had a lot of injuries), I think they were top 3 in points allowed (which should be the most important stat, I think).
When's the last time the Giants were close to that? And they did it 3 yrs in a row.

Other than Reich, all of those guys were HC's before; none of them got their first HC opportunity at that age. That could make a difference and as Eric said, the trend is going younger.

Current ages are irrelevant. How old were they when they were last hired? And except for Bowles and Reich, the others either are successful or were successful in previous head coaching positions. How old was Belichick when he was hired by Patriots? 46?
I'm not sure how they could have done better than Wink.

@rydunleavy
This was 2nd offense vs 2nd defense because a hobbled Andrew Thomas is back at 1st team LT
