Catching 90 degrees from the thrower. Is he practicing for a quick toss on the line of scrimmage without having to turn and face the QB - allowing for a speedy take off down field?
Doubt it. There's no percentage in one handed catches at the line of scrimmage, whether passes or laterals. They need to be as sure as possible, which means two hands.
Yesterday he was also practicing one handed catches, also with the left hand, although he was standing square to the passing gun then.
My guess is that he is mostly just bored. I do wonder why it's all left hand. I keep waiting for him to switch to the right (like Belushi doing his eyebrow raises for his SNL audition).
With so many WRs always I hired, guys like Robinson and James will be invaluable. And oh, in case you didn’t know, James averaged 18 yards a catch in SF. He is a big play guy much like Robinson. I don’t care if both are short….separation is what counts the most.
