Texas leads the race with a 50.3% chance to land the quarterback, followed by Georgia at 44.0%. Alabama is third at 3.8%, a rise from the 2.1% the Tide has when Manning took his visit to Georgia in early June. That’s in line with the latest odds from 247Sports. Per Oddschecker.com, 247Sports has Texas the favorite at 50%, followed by Georgia at 40% and Alabama at 4.8%. The surge for Texas over Georgia is a surprise. With Texas landing coveted transfer Quinn Ewers it’s likely that Manning would have massive competition from one of the top QB prospects in the country. That wouldn’t be the case at Georgia where they’ve struggled to solidify their QB position but won anyway. One would think Manning would take the easiest route to a starting position with an elite program. Instead, oddsmakers believe he’ll take his talents to Austin where he’ll have stiffer competition and the program has struggled mightily in recent years. |
That was my take also. Georgia would be perfect for him
Virtually everyone calls him a 5-star recruit and one of the best HS QBs in the country
I feel like I just traveled back to 2003. People said the same exact thing about Eli. Haha
Ewers hasn't started a game in college yet, he could end up being terrible.

but I just don't see it. With Ewers there now, and Card the year before, why pick UTexas?

This same thing could be said for every high school QB, including Archie Manning. My point remains however. Why go to a school that just spent over 2 years getting the #1 rated QB in his class. There seems like would be many easier paths to go, such as a great program like Georgia (and I'm saying this as a UTexas fan).
That was awesome!
You would think so. But maybe Arch is a swinging dick who thinks he can easily beat that chump... or maybe he's smart and thinking sitting and playing behind someone is not the worse thing. Be like Burrows and have a big year rather than actually work hard for 3 risky years like Lawrence.

I wonder how all that is going to play out!!!

Yeah, he's probably just like all those other complacent Mannings in his family.
savvy thinking...
If he wants to optimize his QB play, Alabama, USC and Ohio State would make the most sense. They have the most dynamic passing offenses and coaching.
(Yes, I know OSU and USC are not even on his list right now...)
