Bobby and Justin talk about their offensive and defensive biggest areas of improvement heading into the 2022 season including red zone efficiency, better rushing outside the tackles, pressuring the QB and more! They wrap up the episode with another segment of Giant Stories.

The biggest area for improvement is football.

But yes, that list would be a good start.

They couldn't help but bad-mouth Gettleman ....

Defense - I get it, he sucked as a GM and got fired, but it wasn't because his mantra was flawed (run, stop the run , harass the QB). The teams he built just couldn't deliver on what his philosophy espoused.

Offense - They're right, the Giants couldn't run around the corners (basically because there were too many tackles behind the LOS). This year should be better, but I think, with better linemen and better blocking I'd like to see more zone blocking to open cut-back lanes. Remember how good Tiki got at the end of is career; it was because the giants went to influence (zone) blocking and EXCELLENT fullback blocking.

Saquon is not and NEVER will be a between-the-tackles HB, he's a bigger faster model of Tiki. Again, remember why Tiki clashed with Coughlin (and eventually quit) - because Tom tried to "fix" what wasn't broken in him - tried to make him into a "four yard and a cloud of dust" guy.
this seems similar to something pat kirwan says
Eric on Li : 6/17/2022 11:22 am : link
the 3 stats he looks for as drivers of improvement yoy are pressure rate both for and against and then explosive plays on offense.

the nyg have seemingly addressed all 3 not only with coaching but each of their first 3 picks in the draft, so i guess to some extent they agree with pat. hopefully schoen got it all right.

LOL -- Tiki Barber averaged nearly 5 YPC and had three consecutive 2K+ yards-from-scrimmage seasons under Tom Coughlin. Oh, and Coughlin fixed his fumbling problem!

that's the worst take on Barber and Coughlin I've ever seen on this site. It's almost as if you didn't watch the team during that time period.

had great vision and patience to wait for the hole to develop and adjust. Not sure SB will ever approach Tiki's skill as a runner.

Agreed, Tiki knew how to use his blockers and had great acceleration thru a crease.
Tiki went out on the wrong side of Coughlin ...

Sounds like most here, chose not to believe that. That's OK, but there's no need to look at the past with Rose colored glasses ...

https://giantswire.usatoday.com/2020/05/25/new-york-giants-tiki-barber-tom-coughlin-wasnt-the-only-reason-i-retired/

As far as what Tom did for Tiki, there's no denying that good coaching brought out the best in him. So kudos to Tom for doing that. Tom was just too old school and insisted Tiki do his share of work inside. Tiki got mad because he didn't want to take the beating and he quit.

Tiki's best friend on the field was fullback Jim Finn. Together they terrorized the NFL. He and Finn were of one mind. At their best, Finn would instantly recognized the cut-back lane and Tiki would follow for big gains ...

Too bad Tiki didn't find his niche till the end of his career, when he'd already lost a step. My hope for Saquon is full recovery from the ACL, a great offensive coordinator who can recognize what he does best and a "Jim Finn" who's on the same wavelength as him.

Look at Tiki's eyes, gentlemen ..

Which one? Bobby still is one of the best o-line commentators on youtube and that still is the giants main weakness until maybe this yr. And Bobby has all the dirty info on the giants because he has key friends inside the building.

If you're talking about Justin I agree. The guy is just off. I watched the draft coverage and in the office of his employer he stuck his butt up in the air and started patting it like he wanted someone to come inside him. Now I dont care if you're into that. Just not what I watch a nfl draft show for. plenty of pay sites for that type of thing.
I like Bobby and Justin a lot
Bear vs Shark : 6/18/2022 12:00 pm : link
Bobby's analysis is great, Justin knows his stats and has more of a fan-level viewpoint with a solid knowledge of the Giants for someone his age. He also gives me WFAN host vibes in a good way.

Either way, I'm stoked they're doing well for such young guys, and glad they're using Youtube as a content delivery mechanism. Them and Entertainah are definitely legit IMO.

Absolutely. One thing we have is SPEED with Toney, Barkley and rookie #2 Robinson in the fold plus who knows what will happen with Slayton.

We are missing a great two way TE that would open things up but hey maybe Bellinger is legit as a rookie too.

Time will tell but yeah we need TD's and more TD's.
Manny. You are reading something into that article that’s not there
ciggy : 6/19/2022 3:17 pm : link
It does not say that Coughlin tried to turn Tiki into three yards and a cloud of dust guy. And that’s not what tiki said.

It lists two SEPARATE issues He didn’t get along with Coughlin. And he was tired of the physical grind each week and the toll it took on him.
From second half of last year ?
djm : 6/19/2022 3:59 pm : link
Right tackle, left guard, center, QB, WR (when galloday was out) edge, middle LB.

Hopefully the rookies and FA OL help the cause.
