I’m headed down to DC for work on my own for a week in July. I’m hoping to find a good bar/restaurant to go listen to a live band a few nights while I’m there. I dont care about menu or alcohol selection, just wanna hear some good musicians. Nothing crazy, just looking for a solid cover band to entertain and pass the time.

Wife and I saw Bright Eyes at a place there called The Anthem. More of a "venue" than a bar so probably not what you're looking for. But I'm pretty sure the area has free outdoor shows and there are bars with bands as well and restaurants. A general nightlife sort of place.

Also down there is Pearl Street Warehouse - I've never been so can't speak to it, but they've got live music most nights.
