I googled it earlier and left salt out because it said that spices have to be plant based. Salt is just a mineral. If it was a spice, it would be at the top of my list.
I mean, people love cinnamon. It should be on tables at restaurants along with salt and pepper. Anytime anyone says, ‘Oh This is so good. What's in it?’ The answer invariably comes back: cinnamon. Cinnamon. Again and again...

yeah, I love cinnamon buns, but I never knew what was so good about them until I finally asked
I don't know what the law is now, but many years ago when my folks visited Spain and Portugal, there was a limit placed on how much saffron a person could take out of Spain (and get through Customs in America). In true drug mule fashion, my Mom smuggled much more than what was allowed out of Spain by stuffing her bra with little bags of the stuff.
And difficult to choose one spice my top 2 would be toasted cumin either ground or whole or a good chili powder. I dehydrate fresh jalapenos every year and crush them up in a food processor then use crushed in a peppermill as a seasoning I probably use that more than fresh ground pepper the last few years.
I use whatever the recipe calls for, with one exception, I put this shit on everything.
I have multiple brands too.
This was my gateway drug to spicy food.
Never been picky About brand but made my own from garden overflow. Spicy as can be with some reapers.
Do any of the brands stick out for you and which are they?
I can't tell the difference between any of the brands. I forget who, but a while ago someone said a more expensive brand was better than McCormick, but I didn't notice any difference.
Not my favorite spice but my favorite thing to put on corn on the cob is Celery Salt.
Nutmeg is a good one!
Great on Bratwurst!

I had nutmeg in my Duchesse potatoes last night. I finally bought whole nutmeg to grate a couple of months ago- I've always used powdered before.
Yeah, cause otherwise you had a shot. 😂
