Ventura 2.1 innings 1 hit 0 runs 0 walks 6 k's (rehab)
David .1 innings 0 hits 2 runs 2 walks 0 k's (his numbers are so unbelievably bad, I can't believe they haven't sent him to the IL to work on his command, this can't be particularly productive... 11.2 innings 24 walks)
Gomez 1 inning 1 hit 0 runs 1 walk 2 k's (One to watch)
Some notes-Andinson Ferrer to begin his career 7.1 innings 5 walks but 17 k's
Grant Hartwig 25.2 innings 22 hits 8 walks 39 k's
HR's have killed him (11 over 49 innings) but Alex Valverde might be worth monitoring as a sleeper. 12.86 K/9 (70 k's leads the organization), 3.89 xFIP, .387 BABIP, relatively young (26 in September)
William Lugo 6'3 215, only 20 years old, (signed thanks to IFA money received for Familia) 119 wRC+, good walk rate... if he grows into some more power....
Thanks for linking that Ira
37 xbh's is pretty low but 20 steals boosts that.
the career line is pretty decent if he can keep moving through the system and offset the babip losses with positive development.
124g / 480 pa
.809 ops (.275 / .373 / .436)
11 hr, 60 rbis, 20 steals
the babip suggests he's more of a .230-.250 hitter than .275 but that's an area he may also be able to improve. having the solid walk rate is a good start. apparently a very cross functional athlete.
Looks like he might have pulled something.

hopefully just a bit of rest for McNeil and putting in a defensive guy

Yeah he was walking pretty gingerly there after scoring... time to hold your breath

Jeff McNeil is out of the game with an apparent leg injury. #LGM
but you never know
i wonder if there's a 3b in the system they can call up?
Having to tank Walters, Dyer, and Orze to select Ginn was one of the reasons I was against selecting him. I did not think he was substantially ahead of this guy who signed for slot when he was drafted later in the same round.

pitchers break is the truest saying of all time.
obviously there may be some talents you can't pass up but when you factor in 3-4 years of development time where you need a pitcher to be healthy along with the reality that they need to be healthy once they get to the majors, it's got to be such a lower probability investment than every day players.
with Cohen's $, i think the move is the draft for depth like last year and use the bigger $ on position players. Then buy free agents in UFA.

they mentioned his wife was due to give birth soon i wonder if they can put him on the paternity leave list for a week to create a roster spot?
A player can be placed on the Paternity Leave List any time during the MLB regular season and post-season.
A player must remain on the Paternity Leave List for at least 24 hours, but no more than 72 hours.
i guess it makes sense since the team had a lot of free time last october.

Paternity list is only up to 72 hours.

The Mets have signed OF Ender Inciarte to a minor league deal, per source.
As for McNeil if he doesn't need to hit the IL, they could sit him Tuesday and Wednesday, have him take paternity leave on Friday-Sunday and come back Tuesday. He'd miss 5 games total.
Tuesday, Wed, Friday, Sat, Sunday and rejoin them Tuesday (no games Thurs/Monday) could call up Vientos on Friday

Yankees released him the other day. Didn't make it back to the bigs with the Reds or Yankees and there is this...
"He’s hit .200/.267/.277 in 220 plate appearances at the major league level since the start of 2020."
but zero downside
At this time they don't really need a black hole OF who is passable in CF ala Albert Almora from last year. They have very little OF depth (Plummer, Lee, Palka who can't really play out there etc) so I expect them to cycle a bunch of these types through. Daniel Johnson was a valid attempt but he's been laughably bad.

very bizarre to see such a defensive fall off, but it looks like he's been at least playable in CF. hard to see him being a better call up option than mangum but like you said, depth.

Max Scherzer will pitch for Binghamton tomorrow, throwing to James McCann, in a rehab start.
Binghamton Mets box seats available between home & third just a few rows up I think I'll go see this.

Mets and their opponents' probable pitchers for June 20th till June 24th - ( New Window )
You skipped Walker
Let's take two in Houston!!!!
Yordan might not be available for them as well.
Could do a lot worse for your 7th starter

yup. 50%+ ground ball rate and giving up very few homers, basically finding a way to pitch to weak contact even if he's not getting a lot of strikeouts and giving up a few too many walks.
most of his numbers are similar to 2020 so i do expect him to maybe have some negative regression with the homers, but on the whole he's standing up numbers we probably thought were a little inflated by a really low babip. he may just be a guy who out pitches his FIP with weak contact.

Agreed and if he can somehow gain better command (perhaps just trust his stuff) and pound the strike zone, he can win at this level....reminds me of S. Matz
Sometimes, lefties are able to hang around the majors and then find it a few years in; Ollie Perez comes to mind though he's more of an example of a leftie who managed to last forever.
If he can ever feel confident in his CB(5%) and throw it maybe 2-3 times as often, he will surprise a lot of people
