NFT: Mets Minors 6/20/2022-Mostly a snoozer

DanMetroMan : 6/20/2022 10:15 am
AAA
Vientos 2-4, BB, K
Dom 0-4, BB, K
Ritter 1-4, BB, K
Palka 1-3
Meyer 0-3, BB, K
Montes de Oca 1 inning 1 hit 2 runs 2 walks 0 k's

AA
Alvarez 1-5, HR, K (yes, another HR for The Troll)
Young 2-5, 3 k's
Baty 1-4
Mauricio 1-4, BB, K, SB, CS
McIIwain 1-4, HR, 2 k's (2nd in the organization in wRC+ amongst player with at least 150 PA's)
Cortes 1-5, K
Nunez 1 inning 1 hit 1 run 2 walks 2 k's

BK
Newton 0-4, 2 k's
Jordan 1-2
Schwartz 2-3, BB, K, SB

St. Lucie
Ramirez 0-3, BB, K, SB
Consuegra 1-3, BB, K, CS
Tillien 0-3, BB
Lugo 0-3, BB, 2 k's
ODLS 1-4, K
Dominguez 1-3, BB, K
Ventura 2.1 innings 1 hit 0 runs 0 walks 6 k's (rehab)
David .1 innings 0 hits 2 runs 2 walks 0 k's (his numbers are so unbelievably bad, I can't believe they haven't sent him to the IL to work on his command, this can't be particularly productive... 11.2 innings 24 walks)
Gomez 1 inning 1 hit 0 runs 1 walk 2 k's (One to watch)

Some notes-Andinson Ferrer to begin his career 7.1 innings 5 walks but 17 k's

Grant Hartwig 25.2 innings 22 hits 8 walks 39 k's

HR's have killed him (11 over 49 innings) but Alex Valverde might be worth monitoring as a sleeper. 12.86 K/9 (70 k's leads the organization), 3.89 xFIP, .387 BABIP, relatively young (26 in September)

William Lugo 6'3 215, only 20 years old, (signed thanks to IFA money received for Familia) 119 wRC+, good walk rate... if he grows into some more power....

Dom Smith just arrived at Citi....getting hugs in the dugout
GiantBlue : 6/20/2022 4:29 pm : link
I saw the replays on McNeil and it seems like he felt a twinge....didn't seem pleased walking down the dugout....but let's hope it is just something to ice and won't be an IL stint.
Great W

after the Astros
KDavies : 6/20/2022 4:41 pm : link
pretty favorable schedule coming up. 3 more vs the Marlins, 2 more vs the Astros, 3 vs. Rangers, 3 more vs the Reds, and then 4 more vs. the Marlins before going to ATL for 3
Looks

Max Scherzer will pitch for Binghamton tomorrow, throwing to James McCann, in a rehab start.

Binghamton Mets box seats available between home & third just a few rows up I think I'll go see this.

Inciarte will earn $1.1 million if he reaches the Majors with the Mets, per source.

really should consider bringing up Vientos and using him smartly. Mostly DH, some 1b, a good SP/lineup matchup to give him a little time at 3b, OPS is over 1.100 vs. lefties so let him see a bunch of lefties and pull him late for defense if need be.
Williams is pitching tomorrow

Mets and their opponents' probable pitchers for June 20th till June 24th - ( New Window )
We've got Alcantara pitching against our guys on the 24th.
Optimus-NY : 6/20/2022 5:55 pm : link
Shit. I hope to come out of Houston with a split. I'm already resigned to a loss against Alcantara on the 24th. I'm guessing Bassitt goes that day too.

Targeting 6/28 against Houston at Citi
Frankly, I am not nervous about any opposing pitcher
GiantBlue : 6/20/2022 8:09 pm : link
with this team. Completely different under Buck and Chavez. More patient, willing to hit against the shift, trying to get extra runs with smarts vs. just waiting for Alonzo to hit a HR.

Let's take two in Houston!!!!

Yordan might not be available for them as well.
For all the crap people give Peterson...

Dude is 4-1 with a 3.18 ERA

Could do a lot worse for your 7th starter

yup. 50%+ ground ball rate and giving up very few homers, basically finding a way to pitch to weak contact even if he's not getting a lot of strikeouts and giving up a few too many walks.

most of his numbers are similar to 2020 so i do expect him to maybe have some negative regression with the homers, but on the whole he's standing up numbers we probably thought were a little inflated by a really low babip. he may just be a guy who out pitches his FIP with weak contact.

Agreed and if he can somehow gain better command (perhaps just trust his stuff) and pound the strike zone, he can win at this level....reminds me of S. Matz

Sometimes, lefties are able to hang around the majors and then find it a few years in; Ollie Perez comes to mind though he's more of an example of a leftie who managed to last forever.
speaking of matz what a bullet dodged
Eric on Li : 6/20/2022 9:08 pm : link
his peripherals look better than the results but a 6 era and giving up a ton of homers. 2 per 9 is not as bad as his 4 per 9 in 2020 but it's pretty bad.
1.74 GB/FB
Vanzetti : 6/20/2022 9:41 pm : link
That's a very good ratio. His sinker and change are hit on the ground a lot. He is also throwing both about 1 mph faster. I think that is helping him.

If he can ever feel confident in his CB(5%) and throw it maybe 2-3 times as often, he will surprise a lot of people
pretty impressive given the bad start for vientos

mets have players on 3 of 4 lists (nobody in A+) and on a quick glance it looks like they are the only org to have that.
