NFT: Asheville NC recommendations

AnnapolisMike : 6/20/2022 4:41 pm
Will be in Asheville for 5 days next week for anniversary. Have reservations at Limones. Visiting Biltmore on Monday.

Things that are uniquely Asheville or NC. I can get a good steak anywhere. Off the beaten path is great too...
Burial Brewing makes some of the best beers in the country

Make sure to check it out you like beer. Otherwise, just walk around the city and find places that look fun.

Hot Air Ballooning is amazing through the Smokys

The wife and I went back in April. Great town. Check out One World Brewing, they have a really cool basement level/off the beaten path dungeon type brewery. Wicked Weed and Funkatorium are cool as well.

Also - not sure what’s playing there but Orange Peel is one of the cooler live music venues I’ve been to. It’s like a really wide old manufacturing plant. We saw Pinegrove there but it’s worth it depending on who’s playing.

I’d also definitely check out Hi Wire RAD brewing in the River arts district, they will definitely have some live music going on. Cool spot.

+1 for Wicked Weed. If you like sour ales, their Black Angel is really good.

Also, Early Girl Eatery has amazing brunch and fried chicken.
Foodie town and lots of craft beer joints to visit.

We did a nice couples dinner at Sunset Terrace...very good food and great views with outdoor seating. Highly recommend.

The hot air ballooning is a good excursion as noted above.

Have fun...

take the Comedy tour of the city.
You'll still see the sights, but the tour guides are truly hilarious.

Also phone ahead for a tour of the New Sierra Nevada Brewery nearby, it is very visitor friendly and the cafe has tolerable snack food/sandwiches and great beer tasting.
Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway

Check out Wicked Weed for sure.

Burial Beer is a good spot too.

Sierra Nevada has a brewery in Mills River, a short drive from downtown Asheville. Very good ambience & some damn good beer. My first beer love was Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

40 minutes to Mt Mitchell, thetallest peak east of the Rockies. And the scenery turns gorgeous as you leave Asheville.
Biscuit Head
Costy16 : 6/21/2022 8:35 am : link
Biggest biscuit I've ever had anywhere. Go early, the line will be out the door down the sidewalk in no time.
Absolutely, positively check out Curate
Section331 : 6/21/2022 9:33 am : link
on Biltmore just below College St. Tapas style restaurant that is jus fantastic, the best meal I've had in some time. White Duck Taco is across the street and good for lunch. Biscuit Head is great for breakfast, but I wouldn't go to the one nearest downtown, the one on Haywood Rd in W Asheville was awesome. So many breweries, it's hard to pick just one, but Green Man was nearest to our AirBNB, and it was great.

It's a little cheesy, but the LaZoom comedy bus tour takes an often funny spin around the city.

if you have not setup accommodations yet you can’t go wrong there.

Dining, if you are a BBQ fan Buxton Hall by Elliot Moss does whole hog nose to tail cooking. A casual place with really good food.

Cúrate, is a tapas place just won a James Beard award and the food is very good.
You are hard pressed not to find a great brewery in Ashville I believe it is in the top 3 cities in the country for microbrews.

Have fun it’s a beautiful area and congratulations on your anniversary.
Biltmore if you or your wife are big Christmas holiday fans
