$12-15 million per year for 2-3 years might actually happen if Jones ends up being a decent starter but not franchise level, leading the Giants to a draft pick just out of reach of drafting a franchise guy.

Not how NFL QB starting salaries work. Jones will be getting paid a lot of money in 2023 to start for NYG or he will be gone.
NFL QB 2022 cash earnings break down like so:
1)Vet starters getting $20M+
2)Rookie contracts, including 5th year options
3)Vet backups/short term stop-gaps getting $6M or less.
The one guy who seems to fall in the middle is Jameis Winston, but he has an odd contract with three void years that he signed seven years out of college. That won't be Jones.
