I can't remember at this point where I saw/heard it but some scouts think Toman could have 55 grades for both hit and power. BA really liked him. Sounds like his future is more likely than not at 3b (haven't seen anybody believe he'd stay at SS, but who knows?)

I didn't see a response when I posted yesterday, but looking at highlight clips of Tucker Toman he looks awfully intriguing especially since we could save a boatload of money with him (even paying him 20th/21st slot is above where he is currently projected) and use that money to land some extra arms that might look for more than slot with future picks.

With Lindor at SS and a number of names in the system whether he sticks at SS or not is not really my prime concern. The hit/power is intriguing especially if it will come at a substantially lower price tag.
Toman, the son of Middle Tennessee coach Jim Toman, is a switch-hitting infielder with the potential to hit for average and power from both sides of the plate, with some risk around his contact skills. He has great bat speed, with a more fluid and powerful swing from the left side, although he had better results batting right-handed over the summer (in a small sample). He’s shown he can handle good velocity, but struggles more against breaking stuff. With below-average speed, he’s limited to third base or second if he stays on the dirt, with enough arm to probably stay at the hot corner – although if he remains on the dirt, it’ll be because of his instincts rather than athleticism or agility.
"They haven’t been subtle about having huge heat at his games going back to like March. You never know with the draft but I'd be pretty shocked if they pass on Jett Williams twice. Shocked"
Seems like he will either be there for the taking, or at worst pushes another player down.
Every time I see his name, I think of the Sandlot

I don't care if he sticks at SS, my #1 hope at 11 now is Jett Williams and he's probably at best a 60% chance to remain at SS.

His size and relatively "weak" arm are his 2 negatives and the fact he's likely a 2b or CF at the next level if he makes it to the show with the Mets makes the arm a non-issue (some think his arm is at least average and plays up because of how smart of a player he is). Altuve like offensive upside.

You had me at "Altuve like offensive upside."
In theory they could just call up Meyer. Meyer can't hit (Mazeika has a 42 OPS+ for his career himself) but is a plus glove, as is Hayden Senger. If they really needed a 3rd catcher they have a few options, + there are always veteran "Rene Rivera's" floating around, I'm sort of surprised they haven't added one to Syracuse. I guess that's Nick Dini
Canha is the only Met to face Garcia. He is 2-4 with a HR against him.
Callis said last 20! years.
He's a little old for that level. Maybe they should just bring him up and throw him out there ;-)

Buck Showalter said he expects Jeff McNeil (right hamstring tightness) to return to the lineup Friday or Saturday in Miami.
Really like the sound of that - sign me up for this kid.
Sandy Alderson admitted a mistake?
This really is a new era of Mets leadership
Cijntje worked with a 94-96 mph fastball and a 79-80 mph breaking ball with 2600 rpm from the right side, and an 88-92 mph heater and a 75-76 mph breaker with 2400 rpm from the left. That’s fairly typical for the natural left-hander, who has a reversible glove that he adjusts depending on the batter.
lol, Sandy admits it yet people on here still can't.

Interesting... Sandy speaks... notes the PCA trade hasn't worked out and implies @mets will try to avoid mortgaging their future in deadline deals, balancing short-term/long-term #Mets

Am I missing something? Who has said the PCA trade worked out? I don't even remember anyone saying they liked the trade at the time if it was just for a Baez rental

Fortunately, Mets have an off day so it it won't be as much of an issue today.
if i had wanted to trade alonso in favor of keeping dom i don't think i'd be so bold in my gotchas, or worry about them at all, but i guess that's just me.

It’s tough to “give up” two games in a row.
Cookie isn’t fooling any of the Astros. They are on everything he throws.

Carlos Carrasco is coming out of the game with an athletic trainer after pitching 2 1/3 innings.
Astros 5, Mets 1, bottom 3
Who woulda thunk it?
Who woulda thunk it?
pretty much every team in mlb has pitching depth issues. LAD are down Buehler and May. Heaney and Kershaw missed time. And obviously Bauer may end up one of the worst FA signings of all time.
starting pitching in the regular season is a war of attrition and you can never have enough depth. that's why when push comes to shove i think they will end up adding 1 of montas/castillo/mahle.

When you sign older and/or oft-injured pitchers…you are going to have severe depth issues.

Of course many teams have pitching depth issues? But how many have lost 3/4 of their starting rotation?
My point is that this was the least surprising thing to happen to the Mets this season. We all knew that our pitching likely wouldn’t hold up and we had very little depth to begin with. Pitchers break…I get it. But we put ourselves in a precarious position.
predicting pitchers health is a crapshoot but you need good ones so not sure what anyone can do except get as many as you can afford.

lol, annual gotcha fail? it's one trade and you maintained even this year after the Mets didn't re-sign Baez how it was a good move that you support then and now. Then you pivoted to PCA is all-glove and not a prospect to care about losing.
My only point is Sandy has now agreed it didn't work out, yet last time it came up you were still clinging to it making sense both at the time and not being a "bad trade" even now.
just say you were wrong. it is a freeing feeling.
I was wrong to care so much about losing Kelenic, I admit it, but I also tend to be a prospect hugger so it takes me a while to get there (admitting I was wrong). But in the Baez trade I (and many) have been consistent it was a bad trade and indicated an incongruent level of investment based on the state of the team, the risk of missing the playoffs, and the risk of not re-signing the player.
not to sound contradictory and im not in any way against promoting him but doing it for a series in his hometown seems a little non-ideal. guy is going to get 500 ticket requests for his first game and have his entire world live in person watching his first K's against Alcantara.
Who is calling the game this early?

It doesn't make up for being swept, but Vientos did not pinch hit in the 9th with the tying run on 1b.... promotion time? #Mets

They look lifeless, if they come back and win, good on them and egg on my face, I'll take it.
