The previous week, Boley had returned from injury and Blackburn had come off his sofa, but neither was really fit to play yet. Both offenses had their way most of the night. Career game for Falcons/Cardinals castoff Laurent Robinson. Giants survived this one, blew chunks again the next week, then started their improbable title run with Cruz's 99-yard TD against the Jets.
The 2011 Giants are an underrated team, IMO. They were thin, though, so every injury - Goff, Thomas, Baas, Boley, Amukamara, Umenyiora, Tuck, Ballard, Hixon - left a big hole. The second half of the regular season was ugly, until the Cruz TD.
By playoff time, they were close enough to full strength to show what they could do.
The 2011 Giants had a game against the soon to be 15-1 Packers
as far as stakes, degree of difficulty, who we were playing and what it all led to, @ Dallas 2011 is the best moment in NYG regular season history and it's not even close. Better than 1981. Better than any moment from 96 or 90 or 2007...
Nothing comes close. That 4th quarter might as well be called NYG's version of apollo 13 because about 100 things had to go exactly right or else a complete and utter disaster would have befallen NYG and boosted Dallas to the postseason. One things goes wrong and there is no 99 yarder from Cruz. No Nicks domination. No Eli to Mario x2. No NFC East. No NFC title. No 4th super bowl title. Down 12 with minutes left...NOPE!
God I love how Jacobs just abused Dallas.....
Those two games came down to two pass plays.
Patrick Crayton stops on his route and Miles Austin loses the ball in the lights.
It's amazing how a single play can change history.
I think it’s very likely the 07 Cowboys team goes to the Super Bowl. Though it can’t be discounted what an all-time playoff choke artist Romo was.
The 2011 Cowboys team wasn’t anything special.
Priceless.

But they showed me enough that they could play with the best and just needed to find a way into the playoffs.
