Moving on. Great, gutsy win by yanks. Overall though I am definitely concerned about their inability to hit the stros. 4 hits today and it took 10 innings. So youre looking at 4 hits in 20 innings. Thats a concern for sure. I think they have the fight to win it all for sure but the stros are certainly a VERY tough opponent who we were pretty fortubate to split with. Otherwise thet dominated the series.
Overall, yanks are a VERY good team. I think yankee fans myself i cluded get pissed off because we expect more and know how we have struggled in poatseason to get over the hump. I certainly think we are better than we were last year so thats good. Should be a fun postseason. Just hope we get wuality ABs earlier in the game. Judge hadn't gone hitless two games in a row until yesterday
benefit of the doubt, but it seems they're just being stubborn about Gallo to try to vindicate the trade. He is a good defensive RF but that's a corner OF position that has to hit, not strike out 67% of the time.

Though mainly a singles hitter, the guy is batting .300 this year. Adding a lefty to the righty-heavy NYY lineup would be great, and I believe I read he's 5th in MLB in defensive runs saved in LF.

The point is in the playoffs, often it's a well-placed and well-timed hit that wins a game.
BTW, all but 1 of our runs were on the HR also.
Again I’m not surprised at that either considering the long hitless innings thing. It’s not like they had many innings where they strung together a few hits.
Obviously we’d all liked to have seen more hits, but I’ll take the split and move on. I don’t think it’s a sign of things to come with this team, more like the trials of a long season, and things like this can happen over a few days even to the best of teams.
To me it’s encouraging to see them actually still be able to get the split vs a really good team in spite of the lack of hits.
He will command a price that will hurt. I think the things he does well would complement the current Yankee lineup and add a well above average LF. He would be a huge upgrade from Hicks and Gallo.

Being out hit doesn't mean that much. They were pretty unproductive hits, weren't they? 1960 WS the Yanks crushed the Pirates offensively, yet lost.

and not everything is going perfect. We all know where the deficiencies are on this team right now and we are still winning. Gallo's D is what is saving his roster spot right now. Benitendi sounds like a great replacement. We will get a close up of him in a couple of weeks. Hicks is still awful, just has been less awful as of late. Has had a few big hits as of late but evena blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then too.
Our next 3 games is against a team where we should get our Offensive confidence back. you would expect a bit of a let down after playing Houston but go out and put the smackdown on the A's.

I got to disagree a bit there. It seems to me he was going on contact so getting a moving secondary lead is good and when he sees a swing his momentum is going towards home.
If you saw the angle from home plate Gleyber had time to get back and the catcher wasn’t even going to throw down to third until his toe stuck and fell. To me that just showed Gleyber being aggressive, just unfortunate he twisted his ankle and went down, otherwise he’s back at 3rd no problem without even a throw.

Agreed and for anyone who didn’t notice before todays game, the Astros scored all their nine runs this series on 3 run HRs, but I guess that’s ok. It’s only the Yankees who rely on the long ball lol.
And Houston also out-hit the Yanks by 15 this series. As well as the team is playing, we really need to shore up the two holes in the line-up in Hicks and Gallo.

Well I’m not surprised given the Yanks we’re no hit and went hit less over 16-17 innings over three games. Bottom line is they got the split in spite of that, and that’s what a good team does. They find a way.
BTW, all but 1 of our runs were on the HR also.
Though mainly a singles hitter, the guy is batting .300 this year. Adding a lefty to the righty-heavy NYY lineup would be great, and I believe I read he's 5th in MLB in defensive runs saved in LF.

Again I’m not surprised at that either considering the long hitless innings thing. It’s not like they had many innings where they strung together a few hits.
Obviously we’d all liked to have seen more hits, but I’ll take the split and move on. I don’t think it’s a sign of things to come with this team, more like the trials of a long season, and things like this can happen over a few days even to the best of teams.
To me it’s encouraging to see them actually still be able to get the split vs a really good team in spite of the lack of hits.

I have to admit, I don’t pay much attention when the Yankees play Baltimore or Kansas City, so my impressions get skewed by their performance against stronger pitching staffs.

Being out hit doesn't mean that much. They were pretty unproductive hits, weren't they? 1960 WS the Yanks crushed the Pirates offensively, yet lost.
Strange game, Yanks also got away with some mistakes as well.
They have the Oakland AAA's coming in, need to take advantage of that team, they are not very good at baseball.

if he didn't stray too far off third base!
Our next 3 games is against a team where we should get our Offensive confidence back. you would expect a bit of a let down after playing Houston but go out and put the smackdown on the A's.

I got to disagree a bit there. It seems to me he was going on contact so getting a moving secondary lead is good and when he sees a swing his momentum is going towards home.
If you saw the angle from home plate Gleyber had time to get back and the catcher wasn’t even going to throw down to third until his toe stuck and fell. To me that just showed Gleyber being aggressive, just unfortunate he twisted his ankle and went down, otherwise he’s back at 3rd no problem without even a throw.
