another great part about the starting pitchers is even when they get beat up early they find a way to not totally implode and give the offense plenty of time to come back and usually give good length too.
Montgomery a great example of that. Got shelled in the 3rd but was able to still give the yankees almost 7 innings and didn't give up any more runs. So the bullpen isn't being taxed like years past or anywhere near it
I really don't get what they are waiting for on Gallo
Are they afraid on using an option to call someone up and trying to hold off until the deadline? Because that's he's worse than putrid, no one is going to trade for him, and it's not like he has years on his deal like Hicks
Yes, he made 2 outs in one inning and yes, batting .169 is pitcher territory, but that last sky-high pop-up to the catcher to end the inning would have been a home run if they were playing in a grain silo.

I'm guessing the asking prices are more than they're willing to do at the moment. They're 53-20 so it's not as if they're desperate to make a move.

LOL. Sad but true. I would be shocked if he is not traded.depending how Chapman performs, maybe they package both of them. For what I don’t know. Addition by subtraction.
Chalked it up to an easy schedule for a long stretch, but the Sawx just swept Cleveland away. I must unfortunately conclude that they actually are decent now. 31-11 after their 11-20 start, one game better than the Yankees' 30-12 over the same span.
Blue Jays beat the Bosox so reversion to mean is a thing
if he could have gotten one more out and finished the 7th inning, he would have gotten the win.
The best thing you can say about Cameron Maybin is that he has a slightly better command of the English language than Beltran does, but both of these guys are uncomfortable to listen to. Do O'Neill and Cone want fewer games or something?

Maybin is getting better. Still stumbles/tongue tied on a few occasions. But better then when the season started.
Cone is doing Sunday Night BB. Think the Yanks are looking to get some diversity in the booth - just a guess on my part - by adding a Puerto Rican and an African American. They lost Kenny Singleton.

They have LoCastro, Florial and Andjuar in SWB, I don't get why they don't just bring one of them up (likely Andujar) and stick Gallo to the bench.

Because someone would need to be let go to make space. Cannot just bring someone up and sit Gallo.
People are pining for a memory of Andujar, not the player he actually is in 2022.
.
He hasn't played enough to get comfortable, and then when he does get a chance, at times he is overly-aggressive.
That's how I view Andujar at this point, just too bad the injuries held him back. He had a wonderful rookie season,
and was a doubles machine. I think they need to bring in a lefty bat in the outfield at the deadline. Gallo has to either be traded, or eventually DFA'd. I don't know how much loner we are suppose to watch that guy,
I know he is trying, but...
last night is why you can't trust Monty with a post season start to me. He implodes in that inning for five runs against that lineup, c'mon man.
He has pitched well this year, still I don't trust him!

You could say that about Cole. He has a couple of clinkers, too.
But he hung in and ate innings without further incident. He had some bad control of his offspeed stuff over about a dozen pitches and the catcher didn't switch to FBs to let him regain his control. Seemed to me Donaldson should have cut that ball off for the 3rd out.
I think there are more reasons to use Montgomery, a lot more, then to shelve him.
Gives Rizzo the go ahead AB.
Yeah Murphy may be a hero the way Stanton is murdering baseballs right now lol.l

interference and a run. I think that may have saved the A's. G was on that pitch....

Nope.

And what is Abreu doing? Andrus had no intention of swinging the bat and he walks him.
And he still cannot throw strikes...

54-20.
54-20.
back up by 12, but a long way to go

that is not a bad pitching line given the disastrous 3rd inning
All the key BP players rested tonight

BP rested is big. Does Abreu go down tonight so they can get Sears on the roster?

They win today...
Das it

37 PA's, .314 BA, .951 OPS, 170 wRC+
That's a good utility man.
