Here is my question of the day....which of these 3 people will be on the Knicks roster come October 2022??
Mitch Robinson,Julius Randle,Jalen Brunson.....
Will be on the team. I am of the mind that Robinson should not get paid a cent more then 4 years 40 mil and Randle should go elsewhere. Won’t happen though
Already know they are going to overpay Brunson, a good but not great player.
Honestly, if Dejounte Murray is available, they should be trying to move mountains to get him. Much more well-rounded, a proven all star who is really just finding his game.
As an aside, I'd love for a Knicks beat to do some digging & find out what was going on with Randle last season. The dude just looked like he was miserable AF. I kept speculating that perhaps it was something in personal life that we obviously weren't privy to as fans. He was a completely different dude than he was in '20-21, when he was penning an article on The Player's Tribune about how much he loved being a Knick & playing in NYC.
get Jaden Ivey. Some of my anger goes to the Kings. They end up with Kegan Murray...big deal. I suspect between the picks and the players we offered more value than Keegan Murray. Would love to know what we offered which was turned down.

Murray is better at fishing and defending. I'll give you that. Brunson can actually shoot the ball though. You give me that?

Sure I’ll give you that. But there is plenty more facets to the game and Murray can still find ways to score. I’m not really even sure Murray is available, but some reports deem it so. Just seems his upside is higher, he’s used to being the primary floor general, and would be a guy I wouldn’t mind spending on. But who knows? Like I said, Brunson may be more realistic because Murray isn’t on the market.
mean this 100% with sincerity and not being a troll, I think it's remarkable how little Leon Rose has done "outside the obvious" and yet remained in the good graces of a famously impatient (rightfully so) fanbase. He may end up a great hire, but his best moves would be....? Which Leon Rose moves have given you great confidence he was a home run hire? And this isn't even a Phil situation where his resume is so huge you get the benefit of the doubt. I 100% mean this, I'm not even saying Leon is bad, I'm just kind of shocked with how he's managed to basically have a free ride (even the media kinda lets him get away with not talking to them outside of a reference here and there)
between Brunson and Murray is the cost to acquire them. Brunson costs money only. Murray costs some ones and some of our young players (Quick, Toppin, Grimes?). Better Brunson with our current roster or Murray with a gutted roster and less future ones?

No troll in my eyes...I will say the media seems to give him a very hard time about his silence
Truth is he doesn't have many options...he finally has cap space and a bit of draft capital to work with..
Me personally I don't need to hear from a GM...just see results
know truly nothing about this kid D'Shawn Schwartz who is on the summer league team but apparently he was a top 75 HS player in 2017, 40 and 38% from 3 the past 2 seasons

Is a full summer league roster available for the Knicks yet? Just seeing this prelim report of expected players -
PLAYER POS DOB LAST TEAM STATUS
Garrison Brooks PF 6/29/1999 Mississippi State (NCAA) Free Agent
Jean Montero PG 7/3/2000 Overtime Elite Free Agent
Micah Potter PF 4/6/1998 Sioux Falls (G League) Free Agent

Not giving away #1s for Eddie Curry or Andrea Bargnani goes a long way with the fan base. #ShellShocked

looks like he's 23 but just finished at George Mason
isn't a massive "fan" of Brunson's perceived upside. Thinks this is the player he is, which is a solid NBA "table setter", doesn't think he'ss a guy who goes to another team and explodes

The Clippers, as covered earlier today in my latest around-the-league notes, are expected to mount a strong bid to sign John Wall in free agency once the league opens for business Thursday night at 6 PM ET.

Does Kawhi need someone to sit by him on the bench or something?
would command coming off injury. I like his game, and Cleveland’s backcourt is becoming crowded. Wouldn’t pay top dollar but a guy I could definitely live with on a reasonable deal.
They will win 35 or less. Thibs will be fired. And Rose will be on the hot seat heading into the 23/24 season likely leading to him going as well.
Then the Knicks will have to start over again in 24/25 with essentially no cap space and commitments to players that aren't good enough to move the needle.

In other words business as usual.
certainly possible and I can't tell you you're wrong.
yes he's reporting he expects Brunson to the Knicks via sign and trade 4 for 100 ish
I.must admit I have mixed emotions about whether I want tamhat deal to happen
Its a middle of the road type of deal in terms of starting PGs
Yup and a big chunk of our cap.space
So what? Doesnt mean thats it the team is final, they have 8 guys under the age of 24, they have flexibikity and plenty of 1sts..
Signing Brunson is just a step in the process, if they win 45 next year and Brunson, Iq, Rj, Obi and Mitch if he is brought back all play well you dont think a star would want to play with them?

They won 37 last year with no Brunson and Randle playing like absolute crap and Rj having a terrible start to the year

What do you think OBI and quick are going to be worth after another year locked to the bench and getting 12-15 minutes a night?
The starting 5 will be Brunson, RJ, Randle, Fournier and Mitch and Thibs is going to run them 35 -40 minutes a night and no one is going to sign up for that group.
So your 41 wins gets you an 8th seed and a early out in the playoffs.
I am holding out hope after the FA opening sprint shakes out, someone talks themselves into Randle. Maybe CHA loses Bridges and views JR as a replacement on a reasonable contract relative to what Bridges gets from someone like the Pistons. Maybe Dallas talks themselves into him as the best they can do in a JB sign and trade. Maybe Phoenix looks at him if they lose Ayton. Just something popping up.

I feel like that is the most likely scenario. There aren’t many big name free agents available this off-season so hopefully one of the teams that “strikes out” talks themselves into trading for him rather than standing pat and doing nothing.
"According to people in touch with the organization after the NBA draft, some with the Knicks have legitimate optimism about their chances of landing Brunson."
Honestly, if Dejounte Murray is available, they should be trying to move mountains to get him. Much more well-rounded, a proven all star who is really just finding his game.
That’s a bad off-season if all 3 are on the team.
Just a bizarre situation.

Who I want to be on the team: Brunson
Thank you for starting this thread. The other Knick thread was on its ninth or tenth page!

That is an actual quote from Kyrie on his decision to opt in. He is a modern day MLK Jr. in his mind. 🤷🤷🤷.
