Here is my question of the day....which of these 3 people will be on the Knicks roster come October 2022??
Mitch Robinson,Julius Randle,Jalen Brunson.....
but id have little interest in giving ayton a max deal at 35 mill per or whatever it is. He is a good player, but he seems like embiid lite to me. And is embiid lite the best player on a good time? Cause at 35 mill he better be.
Yes, Embiid can be the best player on a championship team, his biggest issue has always been health. If you knew Ayton would be as good as Embiid, $35M is a steal, I just have y doubts that Ayton will be THAT good.
I said he is Embiid lite....not embiid. If he was embiid id have no problem paying him.
People in the front office view Brunson as a valuable piece that will move the Knivks forward but not franchise altering, believes more moves are coming on top of Brunson..
Said he is not sure if Knicks have talked to spurs but scouts have told him they view Brunson and Murray a good fit together
the knicks have inquired with other teams about Julius Randle trades
Not sure if you just saw this on twitter or listened to it but worth mentioning he made it clear that this was just to gauge what his value was around the league and the Knicks do this with most of their players (also pointed out that it's something that all competent organizations do)
Dallas can be frustrated all they want but if I were them, I would be frustrated I could have signed JB for 4/55 and chose not to in the name of flexibility for something that never happened.

So true! They made their own bed and if Brunson signs here have to lie in it

Totally missed that, although I'd put Ayton at Embiid-super lite.

Burks would be a good fit for the C's and if the Knicks don't need to give up anything, it could work for everyone. The Knicks definitely benefit from only needing to get rid of one of Burks/Noel so they can just take the first good offer.
At what point do they bow to the obvious and negotiate a S&T with the Knicks. Given the context, Burks going back beats the alternative of nothing. Of course at this point, that might cost them something. I would ask them to remove the protections on this years pick or go from top 10 to top 4 - basically role the dice Luka sprains an ankle or something.
says the Mavs are resigned to the fact they will be losing Brunson.
Lowe said on his podcast that execs he's spoken with have said they think the Mavs would need to outbid the Knicks by $5M/year to keep Brunson and then there was this from a Dallas media guy

Certainly seems like things are falling into place

They probably are already (or will soon) but if it were to get out the league probably dock the Knicks a second round pick which is what happened when the Bucks did that with the Kings and Bogdanovic two years ago

The NBA has been trolling the Knicks (literally) for 20 years now. IF I am the Knicks I am doing anything and everything dirty but legal to gain talent. The NBA can fuck the hell off...twice.

At this point, it's widely anticipated that Jalen Brunson will go to the Knicks on a four-year deal in excess of $100M. It remains to be seen how New York will clear the rest of the necessary cap space and whether the Mavs can work a sign-and-trade to recoup assets.
With all the reports today this seems like one of those FA deals
done deals leaking out that'll happen as soon as the window opens a la Lonzo last year

reporting the Brunson deal is reportedly "more than" 100 over 4. Not even knocking Brunson, but damn is he getting paid... "more than" 25 million per season.

i'll add to the chorus: the Mavericks have had a belief for at least the past couple weeks, multiple sources tell me, that Jalen Brunson would sign with the Knicks. at this point, it's seen as a certainty.
Brunson really does sign with us, the one pick I would be hesitant to trade is the Mavericks pick. If like we’re to miss any significant time that could be a top of the lottery pick

It's top 10 protected but I think it's possible as part of a sign and trade the Mavs remove the protections on it. With the protections now, it's challenging for them to make deals involving 1st rounders given the uncertainty. Removing the protections would give them more flexibility to replace Brunson's production.

That’s my bad then. I didn’t think it was protected
Brunson is a starting caliber player on a good team. We need those. Are we paying for it, sure, but this does feel like a solid deal. We see 25 per and its sticker shock, but the stars are making 40 mill now.

"Teams do not think Jalen Brunson is the last move for the Knicks. Opposing teams see Brunson and Dejounte Murray as an attractive fit in the backcourt."
read the actual piece there is no real indication they are even considering that at all.
"As far as adding another player, New York would have the draft capital to put together a package for San Antonio’s Spurs' Dejounte Murray. According to Bleacher Report, the Atlanta Hawks and Spurs have had talks surrounding Murray. I don’t know if the Knicks have touched base with San Antonio, but rival executives see Murray and Brunson as a strong fit, for what it’s worth. "
Opposing teams believe Knicks are not done and Brunson is just the first move, also says opposing teams say they think a Murray and Brunson backcourt would be a good fit..
I agree it would be a good fit but i dont see how that would fit with Rj

They could be that mystery Eastern Conference team reported earlier today but I'm skeptical too. It just doesn't seem like a Leon and Co. move to go all in on Brunson and Murray vs keeping your draft powder dry for a Donovan Mitchell or another superstar who could become available in the next year or so. But who knows, they haven't made enough bigger moves to really gauge their thought processes.
Comment by Mike Francessa on Twiiter. I totally agree.
and a star comes on the market that we feel is better it would open you up to be able to include Murray, or brunson, or even RJ. Yes those guys would come with be contracts (although Murray not for another year) but they could have value to a team who has a star forcing there way out but dont want to blow it up completely. And even if you traded 3-4 firsts for Murray we would still have a bunch of firsts.
Im clearly a murray fan, its a high cost, but i like the idea of adding brunson and Murray. Its def more talent, but is there enough shooting.

Eh, I am not sure how I feel with a Murray and Brunson duo. Murray just does not shoot well enough. With Randle and RJ being inconsistant shooters I could see us losing a lot of winnable games if they are off

Luka
It's top 10 protected but I think it's possible as part of a sign and trade the Mavs remove the protections on it. With the protections now, it's challenging for them to make deals involving 1st rounders given the uncertainty. Removing the protections would give them more flexibility to replace Brunson's production.
