Here is my question of the day....which of these 3 people will be on the Knicks roster come October 2022??
Mitch Robinson,Julius Randle,Jalen Brunson.....
The ground work for Mitchell it might not be next season but I feel that's a match that will happen kinda like Melo was rumored for 2+ years before it happened.
He wants to be here, works out here, lives her in the off-season.
Hangs with the young Knicks and is loved in the city.
It's a numbers game and a Utah not having egg on their face.
and a star comes on the market that we feel is better it would open you up to be able to include Murray, or brunson, or even RJ. Yes those guys would come with be contracts (although Murray not for another year) but they could have value to a team who has a star forcing there way out but dont want to blow it up completely. And even if you traded 3-4 firsts for Murray we would still have a bunch of firsts.
Im clearly a murray fan, its a high cost, but i like the idea of adding brunson and Murray. Its def more talent, but is there enough shooting.
I would imagine though SA would want the Knicks' picks vs other picks they have. If you're also offering pick swaps, any package you can put together for say Donovan Mitchell isn't going to be all that strong.

Rumor was three firsts gets Murray. If we're trading Rose he's worth something too.

Word today was that they want 4 firsts with light to no protections and pick swaps. The three first thing came from Jake Fischer saying they were looking for a package similar to what Jrue Holiday was dealt for and people just ran with it as if he said they want exactly what Holiday was dealt for.

Thanks. Didn't see that update. I'd love to land both him and Brunson. I'd worry about landing Mitchell when that time comes. Maybe some of our guys will turn into better assets (Fournier/Randle) by then.
The pistons pick is top 18 protected for the next 2 years which is a stretch to hit
Washington is top 14 for 2 years definitely possible
Bucks is a 25' top 4 protected.
Knicks would need to include their own firsts unprotected in any big deals. Plus the protected they got.
That can get a Mitchell plus young players.
If Murray or Brunson can be part of a deal to get you Mitchell that helps but I would assume Utah wouldn't want a max/near player if they go rebuild.

Wouldn't they need to match salary? How would they do that without a big contract?

Absolutely thought that was a given. I am talking assets that would close the deal.
That's why the small deals to Noel, Burks, Rose, Kemba and to a lesser extent Fournier are and we're important. We gave that up now for Brunson which would probably have to be in a deal or RJ.
There’s definitely some truth to the smoke on Murray
“ The Knicks are trading center Nerlens Noel and guard Alec Burks to the Pistons, sources tell ESPN. The Knicks will unload $19M more in salary, clearing the way for cap space to try and sign free agent guard Jalen Brunson.”
Fuck no. And I like Murray. That's highway robbery for him. This isn't a first team All NBA player we're talking about.
Eh, if they make the playoffs what are those picks really? Just put on some protections and I’d probably make that trade. The Knicks just thought so little of the 11th pick that they moved it in part to dump salary.

continue to hand out draft picks to rid themselves of their own mistakes.
The Knicks have been accumulating seconds on the cheap every offseason to be able to do stuff like this. I’d rather they admit they made a mistake a year in then live in denial and hope and pray that eventually they’re redeemed.
Signings as much as anyone. I was furious, but I don’t give a F about the 2nds. They have so many seconds. Happy that Boston and clippers don’t get Burks or Noel
How much cap space do we have now, when we release Gibson will we be at $36 million? Are we giving all of that to Brunson, I hope not. Maybe Boston will take Fournier and 2 seconds for their trade exception

2024 second round draft pick from Miami
Miami's 2024 2nd round pick to Atlanta protected for selections 31-50 and 56-60 or to New York (via Cleveland to Detroit to Philadelphia) protected for selections 31-55 (Miami's obligation(s) to Atlanta and/or New York will thereafter be extinguished) [Cleveland-Miami, 2/8/2018; Atlanta-Miami, 6/19/2019; Cleveland-Detroit, 6/26/2019; Detroit-Philadelphia, 7/7/2019; New York-Oklahoma City-Philadelphia, 3/25/2021]
Ditto. RJ is worth more than Murray, but I would love to find a way to acquire him.
If we trade our extras. If we move Fournier, it'd be really easy.

Keep Randle
Ditch Mitch and sign Deandre Jordan
Get Harden or Conley

You don’t see the entertainment value of starting 5 lefties!! How awesome would that be!

Exactly. No one thinks Murray is worth that price. That's an "I don't seriously want to trade him" price.

Did we get some 2nds at least?
Yeah man, really gonna lose sleep over those second round picks.

We’ll never get our next Andy Rautins will we
Yep....
A lot of work for Brunson. Better payoff
They’re still +2 in future second round picks.
Good trade- I thought it would be harder to move Noel.
I really like Burks as a bench guard. Good shooter and good teammate… he’ll help Detroit.

We can literally buy 2nd round picks with cash. We don’t even have roster spots for them

He was the one player I would have liked to keep out of Noel, Kemba and Rose.
No, i am sure there is more coming

Wait 2nds are valuable when we get them but trash when we give them away?
Thanks
