Just got out of the festival today. Excellent time. The highlight of course was Springsteen and Grohl joining McCartney onstage. But there were other great highlights and the overall vibe is unique. The sheer number of people, the camping onsite, the carnival atmosphere, and all the things to see. I have some great video from inside the crowd, especially a great one from Noel Gallagher's set just prior to McCartney. Jack White was great in an unannounced set. The two main guys from Squeeze reuniting, Billy Bragg, Robert Plant... good stuff.
So many stages, large and small. For anything popular you want to make time if you hope to get close. So it's about choices. For McCartney, I got to the Pyramid venue during Haim, which was two acts prior. Then Noel Gallagher came on and we got in position. Basically stood in that spot for 4 hours. You make choices and plan accordingly. And it's not just music.. there are films, carnival stuff, theater, tiny music acts, late night edm. It pretty much goes 24 hours a day. I'm not into camping so that part of it was hard for me.
It was great fun, though the camping part isn't my thing. Acts I checked out were..
McCartney
Jack White
Robert Plant/ Allison Krause
Noel Gallagher
Billy Bragg
Squeeze guys
Wolf Alice
Pet Shop Boys
Wet Leg
Jarvis
Skunk Anansie
Haim
a few others..
In London now. Wife met me here. We travel to Bodrum, Turkey for about 8 days and then I head home to NYC.
I don't know London very well and focusing on some business on this trip. We are staying in Chelsea area and walking around, taking this spot in.
They played "I Saw Her Standing There" and then "Band on the Run". Later, Grohl and Bruce came out to jam on the guitar section of The End, the finale piece to the closing medley on Abby Road.

Any Band on the Run?
