With Judge in the box.

Strike!
As all of us who has watched Judge from the beginning know,
Kmed6000 : 6/29/2022 12:43 pm : link
its very rare he talks to the umpires. If he does, he's so smooth with it that you can't even tell. I'd bet the face guard is so he doesn't show up the umps. Last night he was pissed. You never see him disagree with calls like that. I can't believe it took him this long to get frustrated, but I like it.

Taillon's last 2 starts are pretty ugly

Hopefully it's a brief mid season slump.

He got out of this mess. Pitch count is up near 50 after 2 innings. Looks like it'll be a bullpen get away day.
Not worried yet about Taillon
GiantGrit : 6/29/2022 2:01 pm : link
Kinda like a new QB coming in who lights it up, teams eventually adjust.

Cortes starting getting hit because teams were focusing on his cutter, he adjusted and mixed in more pitches.

Mike Mussina said the something along the lines of "You'll have 10 starts with everything working, 10 starts where you're off, how you work through the remaining 10 starts determines what kind of pitcher you are.

Paraphrasing I cannot find the quote online yet.
We can't get the mighty Elvis Andrus out

Yeah you are right, they have only lost once and the wins are crazy.

56-20.

Get off the schneider with a blast. They all are pretty much the same, I guess, but tomorrow's game doesn't feel that way. Rather have Holmes available for it at the end.
At least Houston has the same trip to make

Think about this;
Dave in Hoboken : 6/29/2022 4:30 pm : link
the difference between their wins and losses (36, since they are 56-20) is almost double the amount of losses they have. I mean, that's insane.
.737 winning percentage

due to work, but nice to see they took all three from the A's.

Pretty unusual that despite having been swept, the A's actually out-hit them over the three games.

Collision in the outfield today. Potential concussions.
really a grind - 20 games in 20 days because of the schedule
Del Shofner : 6/29/2022 10:10 pm : link
created by the lockout etc. Yanks are 16 games thru and are 12-4. Four more games to go and maybe they get a day off.

With the plane travel and everything - must be exhausting. They are doing so well notwithstanding. Have to like this team.
fun fact

If the Yankees play .500 ball from here on out, they will win 99 games.

Just looked up the standings - 13 games up on the Red Sox. Still think the Blue Jays are better than Boston.

Another split with Houston will be fine by me.

Gonna be difficult to split. It’s only one game. Lol

Thought it was a 4 game series? Ha, looked at the schedule with a Thursday game and ooops.

Thanks - Guardians next.

Can't split one game :)

The Yanks have a pretty favorable July schedule. 2 games in PIT, 3 games against CIN, 3 against BAL and 4 against KC.

But, there's also 7 against the Sox. Great opportunity to just bury them to the point of no return. Get them 15+ back by the end of the month.

Aside from the BOS games, there's 3 vs. CLE and then a DH vs. HOU and the 2 games vs. the Mets.

No reason not to win close to 20 of these 26 games.
They took care of business
Carson53 : 6/30/2022 10:45 am : link
against the AAA's, hopefully they win the game in Houston.
They miss Verlander, who pitched against the Mets yesterday.
Yes it is very difficult to split one game, haha.

Very favorable schedule.

Looking forward to tonight's matchup vs HOU. Servino lost last week to these guys but he pitched well only giving up a few runs but all from one big hit.

I've been following the arithmetic for the past week just waiting for the time when I could post "If the Yankees play .500 ball from here on out, they win 100 games" but no, you have to go and spoil it by jumping the gun. What's significant about 99? Why not just post it when it was 97 or 98?
Here's why? - ( New Window )

The Orioles are improved and've been a tougher out this year. They were on a pretty good roll before losing the last two. Which only makes the AL East an all the more grueling schedule.

I believe the O's actually had a winning record in June. They're not doormats anymore, but the Yankees are still several notches above them and should be able to beat them 2 out of 3 times.
