They have Durant under contract for the rest of his prime. If they don’t find a deal they like, I bet they play hardball and dare Durant to just pout for 4 years.
Durant is going to be 34; and I'm not convinced he's going to be as productive as LBJ as he enters his mid-30s and beyond. He doesn't look like an athlete who spends time building a better, more durable body.
So, I think this is a blessing in disguise for the Nets and they should cut bait on this failed experiment with KD and KI.

it's only a blessing if the Nets get back an insanely talented player or recoup the picks and talent they lost when trading for Durant.
We shall see about that. Usually teams never get back enough when they traded away the best player in the trade.

The Nets acquired KD via sign-and-trade (they could have signed him outright) and they received a protected first-round pick in the trade (which did not convey). DeAngelo Russell went the other direction (from BKN to GSW). The Nets were not going to keep DLo anyway, and they gave up no picks in the Durant "trade."
So it shouldn't be especially hard for the Nets to get more back for Durant than they gave up to acquire him.

Bunch of clowns who just wanted the keys to a franchise
The word "corny" is so meta.
