This is the Andrew Luck story as you’ve never heard it: Why did the greatest quarterback prospect since John Elway walk away from the game before he turned 30? The Athletic’s Zak Keefer spoke with over 25 of Luck's former teammates, rivals, coaches, executives, staffers, friends, and journalists, in an attempt to peel back the curtain in a way that’s never been done before on one of the most unique NFL careers of the last three decades. Interviews include Jim Irsay, Tony Dungy, Chuck Pagano, Bruce Arians, Bill Polian, Chris Ballard, David Shaw, Robert Griffin III, Jacoby Brissett and Peter King. |
I think the issue that most have was the timing of it all. What changed for him to make the decision when he did? A lot of people have retired young. He seemed to have left everybody in the dark about it until one of the worst times possible for his teammates and organization. I am not going to be able to listen to it but I will be curious how others perceive it years later.
He's been a ghost since he's retired & I've never heard any rumors about him returning. When Barry Sanders abruptly retired, there were rumors for awhile of him coming back, but to Miami. Obviously that never materialized.
I'll give this pod a listen.

He announced it one round after I selected him in my draft which is always at the end of August.
Yeah, that statement reeked of hyperbole. Especially given the guy Luck was replacing.
