How is it, America's most recognizable team was not scheduled for Memorial Day or July 4? These are 2 dates usually the entire league plays.
There are exactly 2 teams not playing today. The Yankees and Phillies, also one of the more obvious teams to have a July 4 game. Ridiculous scheduling, in my opinion.
Too many bad umps behind the plate, cue balls for baseballs that pitchers can’t grip, and having the league’s most famous team not playing on two big National Holidays. Seems to be par for the course under Manfred.
I guess the plus side is not having to see them in the hideous 4th hats. They look like monster truck rally giveaways you'd get @ Nassau Coliseum.
What are they going by train ?? Amish Buggy ??
Stoopid.
Yet you post on a baseball thread....
You can't claim you stopped watching baseball and then complain that the Yanks aren't playing today.
That's like the line from an old Woody Allen movie, (woman complaining in a restaurant) "The food here is terrible... and such small portions."

The schedule the last 2 years has been weird all around. Off days on Fridays? Mondays?
Hell, even a 1 game series in Philly or the Bronx with these 2 teams would make more sense.

the holiday hat designs get worse every year
Do you see the hypocrisy in people who have a 3-day weekend bitching about someone else getting a one-day weekend after working 20 straight days and almost all of the last 55?. How many days have you worked in the last 55 days?

Comparing office work or other jobs to pro baseball players is an exercise in futility. They're totally different things.

First off your post is completely missing the point. You’re talking about their most recent stretch but what about Memorial Day? Your post might make a little sense if every team in MLB had today off (since they’ve all been affected by rainouts and the lockout) but that’s not nearly the case.
There are only two teams off today and one of them is the most famous, popular team in the game. How does that make any sense or seem like a good idea for MLB?

To play 20 days in a row, and something like 53 games in 56 days (two of those 'days off' were rainouts so they were likely at the stadium). In May and June they had a stretch of 24 games in 24 days. And today's day off is after flying to Houston after Wednesday night's game for one game on Thursday night. It was only by luck the Friday game in Cleveland was rained out.

Truth.
I also doubt any of us here who have other jobs would complain in the slightest about time off if we knew in advance we’d be working 162 days out of 180 and getting paid very well and in some cases generational wealth to do so.
I guess I shouldn’t speak for others but I sure wouldn’t complain.
Because of the delay in the start of the season caused by the lock out.
You also need to realize the players union has negotiated home many straight days a team can play.
Yeah, pro sports doesn't compare to office work. They spend half their time not being able to see their families. They should work 162 out of 170 days just to entertain you.

That’s a huge swing and a miss by you. Not surprisingly, you completely missed the point about the Yankees not playing on the national holiday that is synonymous with baseball.
But to your stupid ass point, if want to pay me millions of dollars to work 20 straight days occasionally and then get 4 straight months off when I’m done, sure sign me! Hell, I’d even bite the bullet and work on July 4th. But….that has less than nothing to do with what people are saying about the Yankees not playing today
But then again, Manfred….
Must just be scheduling, but you'd thinking MLB would want EVERY team playing on America's birthday.
After all, it is the national pastime!

why did they travel Houston for 1 game, then back to Cleveland

Right, because all of us get off-seasons that last several months...
Again; not a good comparison. You can certainly keep trying to make it one if you'd like, though.

If I was making their kind of money I would work everyday playing a game btw. Get real will you
