Mine goes back to the 1979 BBC series Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy starring Alec Guinness and based on the novel by John le Carre. George Smiley, a retired spymaster (Alec Guinness) is recruited by the British gvt to find a Soviet mole in their intelligence hierarchy. Le Carre had worked for both MI5 and MI6, so his novels had a very realistic ring to them.
That's mine. Please tell me about yours.
For drama The Wire was great
NCIS was good but has lost it ‘luster’ the last few years.
Breaking Bad
Two and a Half Men…this one might not be a popular choice…but I find it incredibly well written.
For drama The Wire was great
Everyone loves Raymond reruns are on tvland. I think it is underrated as a very funny comedy. The writing on the show is really good. The episode where Robert ask his in-laws permission to marry their daughter is hysterical.

Parks and Recreation
The Simpsons (early seasons, jumped the shark around season 7)
Battlestar Galactica (later version)

I've seen each episode a million times but I can still watch them with interest when they are on TV.
I rank The Office seasons as:
2
1
3
5

Seasons 8 and 9 are so terrible it’s hard to believe it’s the same series.

One of my favorite TV episodes of all time is The Inner Light (Star Trek: The Next Generation).
I also thought the series finale (All Good Things...) was one of the best finales for a series of all time.
The Wild, Wild West
The Wonderful World Of Disney (Sunday Nights)
Leave it To Beaver
The Thunderbirds

Sea Hunt
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea

For me, nothing will beat City of the Edge of Forever.
I don't know how I'd rank the old show episodes...that would be tough. I was bored flipping channels the other night and an old South Park episode was mocking Dagger of the Mind... and it made me want to watch that old episode.

In no particular order for me after City of the Edge of Forever:
Mirror, Mirror
The Omega Glory (yes, its not considered a "good" episode, but I loved it.)
A Taste of Armageddon
Charlie X (this one grew on me over time)
Balance of Terror
Space Seed
Amok Time
The Doomsday Machine
Trouble with Tribbles
The Enterprise Incident (if only for the Vulcan death grip)
I probably like some episodes more than what I just posted if I think about it more.
T.T.S.S. is an excellent choice.
My all-time favorite is:
I, Claudius
Deniis Leary and Crew were hilarious
Game of Thrones
M.A.S.H.
In that order.
Did anyone catch The Missing miniseries from the 2014-2016? One was about a missing boy named Oliver and the next one was about a girl taken by a pedophile.
For TV, my list is:
Homeland
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Seinfeld
Sopranos
Entourage
The Office
The Larry Sanders Show
The Americans
The Wire
and
A whole shit load more...
T.T.S.S. is an excellent choice.

The Leftovers
Breaking Bad
The OA
That's my Mount Rushmore. Too many others that I'd want to include and I might be forgetting something because my mind wasn't in this spot..
Community is the best written show I've ever seen. I can rewatch them over and over and continue to pick up subtle jokes that you didn't notice the first X times.
The Leftovers is just incredibly acted, a succinct story that didn't get dragged out. It's what Lost should have been before ABC got greedy...it's Lindelof's masterpiece.
Breaking Bad.. hate to be cliche but after rewatching last year it's just too good not to be on these lists
The OA - biggest shame in TV history that Netflix isn't giving Brit and Zal a chance to complete their vision
Winds of War
Sopranos
Peaky Blinders
Blue Bloods
Honorable mention to the Law and Order episodes with Lenny Briscoe.
Modern Family
The Office
Cheers
favorite comedies
Limited series wise I'd go Band of Brothers, Chernobyl and the Plot Against America
St. Elsewhere
Roots
Civil War (documentary)
My favorite series that I've binge watched 3+ times is Breaking Bad. There's not a series close to that. I've gone through Yellowstone and Soprano's 2+ times and Better Call Saul probably the same, but if AMC is doing a Breaking Bad Marathon, I try and catch as many episodes as I can.

Good call on 'The Inner Light'. I'd like to add 'Best Of Both Worlds'. I think the two part episode is better than most of the Star Trek movies.

Terminal List is really good. Just finished that up last night. If you liked the first three episodes you’ll enjoy the rest.
Lynda Carter was of great assistance for me as a child :)
The Good Place
Fleabag
Six Feet Under
Firefly
Black Books
There's a lot more, but that's where I'd start my list.
Favorite miniseries is Lonesome Dove (again, the book is also amazing, but Duvall might give the miniseries the edge)
Was that about Sodom Hussein?

An honorable mention just off my Rushmore that needs to be me mentioned:
Mr. Robot
I don't often rewatch TV but I actually purchased the DVDs and have rewatched this a few times. Its utterly fantastic.
That was me. It was an amazing show that Fox bungled from the start. They aired all of the episodes out of order and at erratic times. Never really had a chance to get going.
I think Disney officially owns the rights now that they've bought Fox, but I doubt they'll ever do anything with it.

As I recall, the last episode they aired was the pilot! How freaking stupid is that? I've also heard that there was quite a bit of tension between Joss Whedon and Fox, much of which had to do with the Directors the studio forced him to work with. They did not share his vision for character development and relationships.
Unfortunately, I think the odds are against a reboot of the series, especially since the feature film tanked at the box office. You never know, of course. There's still a very loyal fan base out there, but I don't know if it's considered big enough to warrant giving Firefly another try.

I have to say, if they're taking a chance on a Willow series, I can definitely see them doing a Firefly series at some point.
I think the main reason that they wouldn't is that they wouldn't want something to compete with Star Wars and just how Joss Whedon is basically a non-starter for anything at this point. The main cast is all 20 years older, so if they did it, I'm sure they'd do a new cast or something.
I'm hopeful because I loved the sort of western feel to the show, and the cast was so good.

Gomorrah, based on the movie of the same name.

Ya know....
Nah :) Neapoltian Camorra.
Zero Zero Zero was one of my favorite shows that I watched last year (i watched it late, it came out in 2020). Wish there was going to be another season because I'll always want more but its also perfect that there isn't, since it doesn't need one.

Just as Basil Rathbone was born to play Sherlock Holmes and Errol Flynn was born to play Robin Hood, David Suchet was born to play Hercule Poirot, and did so for 25 years.
Weird how four years before that streak began, Suchet played Inspector Japp in the TV movie adaptation of Agatha Christie's "Thirteen at Dinner," with Peter Ustinov playing Poirot, a role he played in several movies. Ustinov is a true legend, but I thought his Poirot was a little too over the top. For me, Suchet really captured the essence of the character.
As far as sitcoms go, Night Court was my favorite because it was so over-the-top nuts.

I agree that Suchet played Poirot brilliantly. I didn't know the series lasted 25 years.

Neither did I before I looked it up. 1989-2013. I think in the UK, though, they only do around six episodes each year.
GoT is another show that I'm dissapointed by. It should've been the #1 answer to this question for me, but like everyone else I hated the end of that show. If you had asked me what my favorite show ever was after the "Hardhome" episode, I would've said GoT with no hesitation. Sad that they ruined the ending so much that I didn't even think about rewatching the show while I was stuck at home during the height of Covid.
I also really really enjoyed "The Watchmen" TV series. The black and white episode "This Extraordinary Being" is one of the best single episodes of anything I've seen in the last 5 or so years. The whole season was great but that particular episode stands out so much to me, just amazing.

GoT is the perfect example of a show ruined by commercial success..but I suppose also compounded by the fact that they had to make up their own ending because the source material wasn't finished..
Dexter another example of a show that was absolutely terrific then went off the rails as they dragged it out season after season to attract viewers.
It's why a show like The Leftovers was such a masterpiece. It was laid out and done exactly as intended start to finish...
Its one of those show where I wish I can watch it again for the first time.

Yea, that one was great too. The whole story is simply done really well.
The show also made appreciate the career Regina King has had. She's been around for a long time and been in a lot of great stuff. I totally forgot she did voice acting for "The Boondocks" which is up there as one of my favorite animated comedic shows.

They’re very similar shows and both are excellent.
Thank you to the first person who mentioned Gomorrah, which I had completely forgotten about. I only saw the first 2 seasons on Sundance and after some searching I found that all 5 seasons are now on HBO MAX. Gomorrah is like The Sopranos, only if 98% of the characters don’t possess a single redeeming quality. Great show, tough watch.
My favorite dramas…
Deadwood, Breaking Bad, The Wire, Homicide, Rectify
