I am guess he wants two more minor league starts which would have him fall right around the asb. So you then have the question do you hold him for Yankees or start him against the padres. There is the chance they do only one more and then have him start with a 60 pitch count before the asb or conversely you have him do 3 rehab starts which could in theory also land on second yankee game.
Thoughts?

Get him to where hs is not on a pitch count when he returns. The last thing we need is for him to come back on a pitch count and the day before there is a significant rain delay causing us to exhaust our bullpen.
mentioned that if they want 4 rehab starts the 4th as of now would fall during the ASB. So either he would have to do a sim of some sort, or they move each rehab like a day back do he does his 4th right after the break which would put him back i guess for the yankee series. Guess it will depend on if they think he needs the 4th rehab and do they think he needs it in a game vs a sim.

Target date has been July 22, home opener against Padres after ASB.
Alvarez threw out the first guy who tried to run on him

I think he should pitch when the timing is right for him, there is no value to "forcing" him to pitch to a certain opponent. In your example, the SD game would carry more weight than the NYY game, so I would prefer he pitch that one. But again - I'm for him pitching when the timing is best for him, not based on the opponent.
Max tonight, which sets him up for Sunday and missing the Braves series. Do you push him back a day to open in Atlanta? I do, especially since Walker will miss it as he pitches Saturday
And does Bassitt return for the Braves series, and will his arm be in shape for it after this covid absence?
Starting Peterson, Williams, and Cookie in Atlanta would not be good
Seems like a viable bath but who do you give the game too?
Vientos 0-4 tonight with 2 more Ks
To me, he has a lot more upside than Smith.

Smith’s problem is the long ball. Smith tends to get more swing and miss.

Marlins are not a terrible team but they can't hit. So I have no problem throwing Scherzer against Alcantara on Sunday.
Beat the Reds these next two games and win three of four in Miami. That's the best way to keep the Braves in second place
If you scramble the rotation and lose to the Braves anyway and now lose against Florida you fall further behind.
