The next few days things should start to heat up arounnd the NHL. Teams will be looking to get guys signed or shed salary in order to go after players in FA.
The Rangers need to make moves in order to keep some of their FA's or bring in new players.
The Islanders will look to move Bailey for sure and they have been linked to Forsberg and Gaudreau.
If you see or hear something let us know. Should be an interesting next 2 weeks.
Not pinning their loss to the Avs squarely on the goalie, but I forget the exact reference but I think they set a record for the first team in NHL history to score 6 goals or more three times in the playoffs and lose all 3 games.
Ah, I see five5 is there as I've been puttering on the keyboard.
not sure I'm throwing a lot of money at him, but someone will.
Campbell probably gets a lot of interest too.
I'd be very interested if I were EDM. He's come off his peak a little, but I like him more than the guys EDM has been rolling out there.
Petry? Klingberg? Fox? (lol, I doubt it, but maybe Trouba if the fans on here get their way)

I think Klingberg is a UFA.

I could see the Oilers giving Jack Campbell $6 million a year on a long term deal. I would be happy with him on the Devils but I would want a 1-2 year deal. Georgiev is not a starting caliber goaltender in the NHL.
(not sure he qualifies as major...but I'll go with it)
and I doubt Brent Burns or Erik Karlsson are traded - too much money owed IMO for too little production.
Husso is solid at the right price but I agree that it would be a big mistake to commit a lot of money to a goalie with such a small track record. I wish that they could lure Fleury here but I seriously doubt that he would be willing to come to a team that struggled mightily last year. I wish that they would turn their attention to Lehner again. They tried to acquire him last offseason but Vegas was unwilling to move him.

even if he qualifies (I don't think he does, but I like him), I think ARI will struggle to get to the cap floor, trading their highest $$$ D won't help.
Also, he's 24 years old (through all of next year) and has 3 more team friendly years. I don't get the speculation or urgency to move him.

This is just my opinion but I could see Arizona trading for Bobrovsky to help get to the cap floor. They would then have a valuable trade piece at the deadline as they surely would be willing to absorb a big chunk of his cap hit.

I was thinking that but with Carey Price. Not sure FLA off a 122 point President cup season is ready to move on from Bob even though I like Knight and think he's a franchise goalie, hard to move off success (even with the playoff debacle)
This is what I would do to attempt to fix the Devils goaltending situation. First I would correct a mistake and attempt to acquire goalie prospect Dustin Wolf from the Flames. He's blocked there by Markstrom but he is ready for the NHL. I loved him when he was in the draft and I was extremely disappointed when they took Cole Brady over him in round 5. I would be willing to offer Akira Schmid, Kuokkanen, a 2nd round pick this year or next.
If that is not an option I would target the following in order of preference.
Jack Campbell
Fleury
Lehner
Husso
I'm not sure he's a 2C, but he was an absolute pain in the nuts in round 1 of the playoffs and shouldn't be terribly expensive.
Not something I'll bang the table too hard in favor of, but I've heard worse ideas.

News: New Jersey Devils promoted Kate Madigan to assistant general manager —making her the 5th woman elevated to that position this year.
Before this season, only one woman held title of assistant general manager in NHL history
Madigan has worked in NJ’s front office since 2017
I have read of 10 scouts polled, it was 6/4 Slafkovsky over Wright, but also in a 20 scout poll it was 13/7 Wright over Slafkovsky.
Seems like a Hischier/Patrick draft.
Word is habs still undecided - not sure if smoke or true.
I have read a bunch of Bergeron comps for Wright, I hate comps like this for an 18 year old to an all-time-great, but even if it's close I don't see how you pass that up.

PJ listen orginizations don't usually operate like this, but I can't picture the Habs getting up in front of Bell Centre and passing on a Canadien player who's been the consensus #1 for over a year.
I wouldn't give Campbell more than $4 million over 2-3 years. I don't know if it's true but one rumors suggested that a team was willing to go $6 million over 5-6 years for Campbell which is insane. The team that immediately came to mind was Edmonton.
If they can't get Campbell at a good price then turn toward the other options. I would be happy with Kuemper also but not more than 1-2 years.
I would be very surprised if the Devils pass on Slafkovsky but to be perfectly honest he scares the shit out of me. I would rather see the Devils select the safer choice in Cooley.

If he were a Quebecois you may be right (no pun intended), but *just* being a Canadian I don't think changes much.
And if they keep the pick I do think they take Wright, but I also think a 6'4" 220 pound 18 year old who dominated in men's competitions is the perfect "make you think twice" alternative.

Man would I be happy if Montreal selected Slafkovsky. As you mentioned weeks ago Wright is more Nico Hischier type and not the high caliber #1 overall pick as guys like McDavid, Matthews, or Hughes but he will be a very solid NHL player. The comparison to Bergeron is exactly the type that the Devils need.
Casey DeSmith just re-signed for 2 years with Pittsburgh.

Upon hearing about the arrest of Ivan Fedotov, Kirill Kaprizov reportedly immediately returned to the United States. His name is linked to fraudulent military IDs being sold to players, including Fedotov, and Kaprizov is now wanted in Russia, per Sport-Express.

It's the same reason why I wouldn't be opposed to dealing Panarin. With Panarin, you deal him and you open a SHIT TON of cap space, while allowing Lafreniere to elevate into the 2LW role.
With Trouba, you also open a shit ton of cap space, while allowing a right side of Fox, Schneider and Lundkvist.
Of course the issue is that talent and compete levels would take major steps back and I'm not even certain that I would do it, but it at least has to be considered.

The JT Miller watch is full on in Montreal. Understandably, Vancouver’s ask remains high, but the interest in the talented forward is very strong. A developing story we’re watching closely.
doesn't make any sense to me, but it's being discussed - OTT GM only would say if a trade makes sense for both teams he has a lot of respect for Gorton and Hughes and has no problem trading with MTL.

I don't think he meant that Montreal is interested. It's because Miller may be dealt during the Draft and the Draft is in Montreal.

this is how I read the tweet originally as well.
Why add Miller (presumably for #1) and then trade one of your best forwards.
I suspect MTL is not interested in Miller - but is interested in #7 from OTT.

Yep, as does Panarin. They would need to waive 'em. I forgot the structure, but Trouba either has a limited one that becomes a full one, or vice-versa.
Panarin has a NMC for the duration.

who knows, better option as a 2C for NYR than Scheifele, Larkin or PLD IMO.
but he'd be a rental unless he's extended.
@SSikora_BarTalk
Trade names mentioned attached to #NYR so far Pierre-Luc Dubois, Mark Scheifele, Sean Monahan, JT Miller, Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat.

Wow that is certainly out of left field. Jiricek is a very good prospect but I would be very annoyed if the Devils passed on Wright AND Cooley for him.
