The next few days things should start to heat up arounnd the NHL. Teams will be looking to get guys signed or shed salary in order to go after players in FA.
The Rangers need to make moves in order to keep some of their FA's or bring in new players.
The Islanders will look to move Bailey for sure and they have been linked to Forsberg and Gaudreau.
If you see or hear something let us know. Should be an interesting next 2 weeks.

Fleury is not signing a 1 year deal with any team. No agreement with the Wild.
Ha ha sorry guys Kevin Weeks usually has good info. I just saw Dreger and others refuting it. Was coming back here to post it.
Weekes is awesome, I saw he deleted a tweet, was it that one? of course I have a shitload of work meetings today so can't stay on top of stuff.

Yeah he wrote another tweet apologizing for the mis-info
Likely cost is a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick (based on all the offer sheet $$$ I've seen thrown around which are between $6.3 and 8.4M AAV) - which may be worth it.
he was unreal in the playoffs.

Penguins sign Kris Letang to a six-year deal, $36.6 million contract extension.
That's a $6.1 million AAV. Definitely seems as if the Penguins offered more term in order to keep the cap hit low.

After the Letang contract the Penguins now have $15.3 million in projected cap space with 2 goalies, 7 defensemen, 9 forwards signed/expected to be on NHL roster.
Can definitely sign Malkin + 2 other forwards with 15 million. Letang taking term over $$ is great for the Penguins.

Hearing OTT & BUF were deep into conversations about a Matt Murray trade. Sabres are on his No-trade list, and Murray — as his his contractual right — stuck to his list.

Told the Calgary Flames have zero plans of trading Matthew Tkachuk at the draft or this summer. The #Flames remain completely focused on trying to get Tkachuk signed.
but I guess you win a cup who cares about picks.
Georgiev is an odd case. When he gets regular starts, he looks great. When he only plays sporadically as a backup, he stinks.

but i needed to eat some crow on that, he looked pretty damned good in the finals. Maybe playing against McDavid/Draisaitl you're going to give up some goals.
He's maybe the top 1 or 2 free agent goalie now.
Well, that answers the question that me and every other Avs fan has at the moment:). Not good. Seems like a lot for the Avs to give up, but really, who am I or any Avs fan to question Joe Sakic right now? Maybe they figure they can work with him. I am not a Kuemper hater like many. He had a rough playoffs (maybe "rough" is not the right word to use since he did win a Cup) but I think that eye injury he sustained in the Nashville series affected him more than he let on.
And on a positive note, I have no reason whatsover to watch this draft either today or tomorrow! I think we are about out of picks:).

The Blackhawks are still actively trying to trade Alex DeBrincat to get into the first round tonight. At this point, the sense I get is it'd be a bigger surprise if they *didn't* trade him than if they did.

Kirby Dach trade rumors also heating up and you have to think Kane is going to be traded soon too. Blackhawks are stripping it all down.
He's a 21 year old RFA who has suffered some injuries.
what reason do you trade him? and what do they expect for him? He was brutal last year in almost every measurable way.

#Blackhawks are listening to offers on Kirby Dach, per @ByScottPowers
. The “sense” is it would require a Top-15 pick to make them really consider it.
Per @johndietzdh
- the Red Wings and Blue Jackets are in play here. #LGRW #CBJ

I think they're going to trade Kane this offseason. Toews has negative trade value at this point. Also, it sounds like they're not going to qualify Dylan Strome, so both Stromes will be UFAs.
they're both owed over $10M in the final year of their deals and both are mid-30's.
Kane turns 34 in November and Toews is 34.

Pageau was a great trade and exciting. Dobson was a great pick. outside that Lou is really underwhelming. would be nice to do something exciting
between the video guy assault fiasco, the awful trade for Seth Jones and now being "forced" to trade your best young asset for a pick that you hope to make on a player who can become close to as good as the player you traded away - plus your veteran "stars" are old, high paid, and close to free agency.
A good, young, sens roster just got better. I think they could make the playoffs next year with solid goal tending.

Wow that's a steal for Ottawa. Obviously the Devs passed. Chicago should have waited. If Montreal takes Slaf then I think the Devs will be very open to trading the pick a NB s #2 is much better than 7. If the Habs take Wright then the Devs probably keep the puck but the Ottawa trade would still have been there.

Fitzgerald was very clear yesterday in his press conference yesterday that, as the #2 pick has several years of team control, he's only looking for trades for players with similar term. It just came out that Ottawa has not even discussed an extension with Debrincat, and he is eligible to be an unrestricted free agent in 2 years.
Without the framework of an extension, and given the Devils' timeline, it's very tough to make that trade.

I heard what Fitz said, and the 2 year thing is a risk. However at some point after 10 years of sucking you have to take a step forward. Nothing they are getting at #2 is a sure thing by a long shot. If they get an Alex DeBrincat at #2 that would possibly be the best draft pick in Devil's history besides Marty. I'd have rolled the dice with 2 years control. The Devil's still are loaded with prospect. If they'd have added him plus a solid goalie they can make some noise.

Niedermeyer? Elias?
Looking for the Devils to contend for cups, not just making some noise.

Listen I'm not fuming. Keeping #2 is fine. Don't act like getting a 24 year old who if not for a Covid shortened 56 game season would have easily scored 40+ goals 3 of the past 4 seasons is some sort of quick fix veteran. Part of contending for cups is scoring goals.

Agreed that Devils need more goal scorers. Thankfully, Slaf, Wright, and Jiricek are all excellent shooters.

I can support passing on Debrincat if there is real concern about being able to re-sign him long term. I would rather wait and try for Tkachuk if he becomes available. The Devils offense is good enough at the moment but they won't go anywhere unless they address the goaltender position.
I can’t believe how quiet it’s been. Slaf now has the Vegas odds.
I think Wright, but Molson met with Slaf and his family today so who knows.

I think it's Wright also. I read a rumor that Montreal thinks the Devils love Slaf, they probably do, and Montreal wanted to sell that they would take Slaf 1st hoping that the Devils would trade up one spot. That would be a huge win for Montreal as they would still get Wright at 2 plus more assets.
Lol I can take half my apology back. It was a 2 year deal instead of one😂🤣

I could see that. Evidently from what I heard today on NHL Radio, the NHL GM's love screwing with the media more than any other sport
