NFT: Wimbledon fans?

Anyone tuned in? Love watching this event every year. Something about it maybe because it’s summer time - find it totally engaging and relaxing

Going to is in on my sports bucket list.

I'd be stunned if The Joker didn't win.
Krygios

Has made it entertaining to say the least.
I’m rewatching this Djokovic comeback win

Some really entertaining tennis
Can't stand Kyrgios
redwhiteandbigblue : 7/5/2022 7:47 pm : link
Total a-hole. Spits at fans, swears at umpire and fans. Complains about EVERYTHING (although was somewhat more reserved in last match).

Great women's match in the a.m. between Halep and Anisimova (from Freehold). Love Anisimovas power game.

Terrific comeback by Joker.
Sinner...

is going to be a handful for the tour moving forward. What a sweet, smooth, powerful forehand he has. Quite a duo Italy has with him and Berrettini.

I like nothing about Kyrgios and hope either Garin or Fritz/Nadal take him out.
On the women's side...

I have been very impressed with the power of Rybakina. Man, she hits a heavy ball and can really hammer the serve.
Unvaccinated Djokovic is able to play at Wimbledon

Why turn this thread into that? And if he’s following their protocols, be mad at the all England club.
Joker pulled it out today
Chip : 7/5/2022 9:11 pm : link
and another Nadal Joker match would be great. I don't see anyone beating Halep which probably spells doom for her. Rooting for Joker as well.

No.

Instead, you should be bothered by the All England Tennis Club not allowing Russia and Belarus players to play this year...
It's the All England Club that bothers me. They have no protocols,
Marty in Albany : 7/5/2022 9:15 pm : link
no quarantines, etc. About 100 Englishmen a day die from Covid.

If one person gets sick or dies because Mr. Novak, is allowed to play at Wimbledon, it would bother me.
Look I’m all for getting vaccinated
mattlawson : 7/5/2022 9:18 pm : link
But this really isn’t about that. Or shouldn’t be.

He won't last, he will get crushed with better talent on the other side of the net. Whether he's injured or not. He started showing cracks yesterday, surprised he didn't just blow up though. Thought he was close when he started serving ay 79 mph....
bw. I think you are treading into political waters there, but that is

you brought it up and he has a point. And since you did, does the number need to be 0 before you are ok lifting the restrictions? And how long until then? Likely years, if ever.
I've watched a few matches so far

Vaccinated? The guy has had Covid twice and we are worried about his vaccination status?
Tennis is not even worth watching this year
Essex : 7/6/2022 10:02 am : link
Djokivic didnt get to play the Aussie Open for some dumb reason, won't get to play the US Open for the same reason and Medvedev couldn't play in Wimbledon because he comes from a country where the leader attacked another nation. Just leave that stuff out of sports.

the Nadal / Fritz match was pretty exciting. First Djoker, now Nadal, go five and prevail. They just keep on keeping on.
Fritz

is going to have nightmares of that match.

Marty is the guy driving his car next to yours with a mask on with no one else in the car.

Where I live recently there were 4 drownings of people under 21. Marty all people near pools should be wearing life jackets I assume?

So true. Nadal was there for the taking. He was clearly hurting. He couldn't get anything on his serve and his movement was subpar. Yet, he dug very deep and found a way. That effort was a real credit to his character.

It sounds like it's 50/50 if he can even lace them up for his match Kyrgios. That would really be a downer for the semis because I expect Joker to crush Norrie.
On a side note...Fritz' girlfriend is freaking HOT...
KingBlue : 7/7/2022 9:06 am : link
ESPN must have showed her hundreds of times during the 4 hour match. Kyrgios' girlfriend is also a smoke show.
Kyrgios might just win this thing
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 7/7/2022 11:02 am : link
With Nadal's abdomen tear, the difference in the 1st serve between the two might just be insurmountable on grass. Kyrgios might have the best serve in the world, I know statisically Isner is better but Kyrgios' technique is incredible. On the otherhand, Nadal was struggling bigtime with his serve against Fritz.

Nadal is a warrior and has always been a genius at adjusting to his opponent, but he's in deep trouble right now. Even if he fights his way past Kyrgios, I can't imagine this injured version of him has a chance at taking down Novak in the Final (Norrie needs a miracle to beat Novak imo). I'll be rooting for Nadal to take down the shithead Kyrgios but right now I think Kyrgios should be considered the favorite.

Also, yea, Fritz's girl is insanely attractive lol. The cameraman literally cut to her after every single point in that match. It was kind of ridiculous but I wasn't complaining.

Top clarify, Kyrgios should be considered the favorite in the SF match. Novak is still the clear favorite, even if Kyrgios would have puncher's chance against him.
Nadal out with the injury.
Mad Mike : 7/7/2022 2:32 pm : link
Evens the field in the final a bit with Kyrgios getting the walkover.

Probably right since it's very likely Joker cruises by Norrie.
really unfortunate
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 7/7/2022 2:55 pm : link
that his Calendar Year Grand Slam chase ended this way. I was really looking forward to a Djokovic-Nadal final at Wimbledon, it really seemed to be breaking that way after the early rounds.

With Novak expected to be out of the US Open this year and Aussie Open next year (I hope he's able to play), this means we won't see another Major event where these two face off against each other until potentially the next French Open.

A well rested Kyrgios vs. Djokovic final would certainly be entertaining. The inevitable crazy shit that Kyrgios pulls while dealing with this pressure is going to be must see TV. Nothing is off the table. We could see him channel Ron Artest and go into the stands to beat up a fan. We could see him punch a ballboy. Nothing is off the table. All that said, his serve is still beastly enough to give him a shot against Novak.
of course Djokovic loses the first set 6-2
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 7/8/2022 11:18 am : link
Good news for Kyrgios, as Djokovic will at the very least have to go 4 if he even wins this.
He may not win as many as Nadal
GNewGiants : 7/10/2022 12:12 pm : link

Djokovic wins
