just stop, full stop, and didn't move after the catch, after the broken relay, after the tag between 2nd and 3rd, he just stood between 1st and 2nd? yowzaa

The runner on first was the guy who was tagged. The third out was when they tagged second. They didn't need to throw to first.

I thought the runner on 2nd was tagged (great catch and throw by the OF, by the way) and the runner on first could have retreated back to first and been safe? Maybe? Maybe I'm wrong.
Either way great defensive play followed by some pretty poor base running.
The runner on second has to stay on base tagging up unless the ball isn't caught then he can jog home with the run man on first can either tag up and advance after the catch or come off the base and go back if the catch is made
How bad the baserunning is at the MLB level. High school coaches harp on knowing the situation, what to do in certain scenarios, freeze on a line drive, etc and these guys in the MLB just put their head down and go regardless of the situation.

No. Both baserunners were past second. After the catch, the throw came in and the runner from 1st, who was now between 2nd and 3rd, was tagged. The runner from 2nd was then out when the fielder touched 2nd base (since the runner hadn't tagged). The guy you see who stopped running between 1st and 2nd is the batter.
