Notable that Rizzo is out of the lineup again. That’s mildly worrisome; hopefully just needs one more day to rest his back and this isn’t going to be an IL stint
I don't want to be responsible for 3 losses in a row.
Gotta keep you fresh for October!
Also, yeah.. Carpenter in RF *and* the 3-hole was pretty surprising, but he's definitely earned it with the bat so far. Interested to see how he plays out in right and I wonder if this is the Yankees trying to find that out for themselves in order to potentially dump Gallo.
He did but that was out of lack of other options with the short bench late in the game. Other than that one inning…2014. Hopefully he pulls it off, it only helps get his bat in the lineup the more positions he can play
Trevino has also cooled considerably at the plate. Over the past 2 weeks, his offensive numbers in ~40 PA have been dreadful. Not totally unexpected, but this just makes it even harder to keep trotting Gallo out there.
How long is Joey Gallo going to be allowed to bat .165 in this lineup? The whole season? At what point does the Yankee brass say, "Enough with this guy"...? On Sept 24th, am I going to be here on BBI typing, "Well...once again Gallo can't catch up to the high fastball and struck out to strand runners on 2nd & 3rd"...?

Well maybe if you obsess over it more and continue to post about it a million times on the BBI game threads it’ll get Cashmans attention. He probably hasn’t even thought about Gallos performance and how it’s affecting the team so he needs BBI posters to continually repeat the same complaints over and over and over again to get his attention.

I’m out of market and watch on EXTRA innings through Xfinity so I get bot teams broadcasts and I’ve been watching the Pirates these two games because I can’t listen to Beltran.
Shame too because I really like Ruocco and wish I was missing Kay instead of him these two games.
Btw, the Pirates announcers are pretty damn good. They let the game breathe, call it straight up and praise a good play when they see one. Sure they lean heavy towards the Bucs when they make a nice play but it’s not over the top homerism.
Meh, took two very good throws. I don't disagree with you but I don't disagree with Rojas...
I like Rojas, but I immediately didn't like that call. It could have been great though. Really close play. I guess that might be what you want in that spot. With 1 out...
never send DJLM if it's going to be at all close -
one hit this team? This game had to be an anomaly. Even Gallo hit a home run. Now let's go to Boston and see if we can't continue the carnage.
In a sense I agree. But it is an over the top example of what they do. Pick away at the oppo pitcher, wear him down and then destroy the BP.
It is frustrating that they can be shut down and the very next day explode.
We were 41-41 at this same point last year. Just a massive contrast.
Chris Sale had a shitty outing against the RailRiders last night and threw a tantrum afterwards lol. He started breaking a bunch of stuff in the locker room.
Huge series against Boston, an opportunity to just completely bury them.

Aside from his 1st season up there, has he ever been good? Seems like one injury after another has kept him sidelined.

The first 2 years he was in Boston, he was a legit Cy Young candidate (Kluber edged him out in 2017), but 2018 was the last time he was ace-level good.
He had a 4.40 ERA in 2019 and struggled, didn't pitch at all in 2020, barely pitched in 2021 and still hasn't pitched yet in 2022.
His physique makes me nauseous. He looks like he's going to snap in half.

I saw some comments in the Post, somebody called him Chris Frail, that was funny. I think he will come back to the rotation now, bad outing or not. He will most likely face the Rays next week, then the Yanks next weekend before the ASG? Just a guess, not confirmed by Sawx.
I stopped watching after it was 10-0, figured they could pull that one out, guess they beat up on a position player on the mound. When teams put in a position player, they might save an actual arm in the 'pen, but runs are sure to follow...
Good job by Sevy getting out of that first inning, then pitched well afterwards. Best outing in a while I thought.

+1
??
Dammit.
Does it look like it will be played tonight?
IKF had three hits last night. I wouldn’t say he’s a black hole or anywhere close to as inept as Gallo.
Gallo would be lucky to get three hits in a week.

freakin black holes of Yankees baseball.

Meh - he has a lot of RISP failures. 3 hits last night and they lost 5-2.
BTW, Donaldson is a damn fine 3rd baseman with a terrific arm. Too bad his bat has all but died.
The Joey Gallo of announcers.

Ha, any play with DJ running is a close play!
Did he?
Not only did we almost fall over, so did Donaldson.
Yup. Feel for the guy. Got scooped up when we DFA'd him and wound up going from the best team in MLB to one of the worst.
There you go, Dave. One inning late but there it is.
A Judgian Slam.
9-0 Yankees.

Love to see it. I know he's been struggling recently, but hopefully this will get him going again.

Still 59-23 .720 winning percentage...
