on LSD has to be the greatest athletic accomplishment by an athlete while on a psychedelic trip. He didn't know he was starting that day so he dropped acid. When he found out he was starting, he didn't back down and he no-hit the Padres while tripping. Such a story of what those days were like.

haha - I should have been clearer about which hot dog thread. Not the one about the best brand of hot dog. Rather, the one about whether the guy who just won the 14th straight Nathan's hot dog eating contest is the "world's greatest athlete," which sparked some entertaining debate about what constitutes an athlete. Then the Yanks were playing the Pirates, which is rare, and Dock Ellis who played for both teams came up. So in the spirit of the hot dog thread, I thought Dock's accomplishment should be considered as best performance by an athlete on LSD, tongue in cheek as I think the hot dog eating thread was intended to be. And no, I wasn't tripping when I posted it ... those days are long behind me. I think I tripped twice, both in the summer of 1971. I may have had a couple of glasses of wine, though!
I think a lot of baseball players have accomplished some amazing things while hungover. Going back to Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle. Having both been hungover and dropped acid, I wouldn't compare the two states of mind and body. Throwing an MLB no-hitter while tripping on acid stands alone! Richard Nixon as the home plate umpire ... you can't top that.
