being a kid now is nearly as exciting as being a kid in the 80s was. We had that insane anticipation towards summer blockbusters that could only be seen in the theater, and we couldn't just choose endless hours of other content we liked to combat it. I don't think there's a modern equivalent to that.
is pobably the film achievemwnt of the decade, though it's actually 10 films.
Followed closely by #2. Blue Velvet. Then in no particular order, off the top of my head...
3. Robocop
4. The River's Edge
5. Fast Times at Ridgemont High
6. Terminator
7. Re-Animator
8. Evil Dead 2
9. Return of the Living Dead
10. Sex, lies, and videotape
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

I'll add some: Field of Dreams, Big, Hoosiers, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Raging Bull, ET, The Big Chill, Dead Poets Society, Mississippi Burning, & Platoon. I'm sure I'm missing a ton of '80s flicks that I love/loved.
Spaceballs needs an honorable mention. I saw that when it came out & about 3/4ths of the jokes went over the head of this child. 'I bet she gives great helmet.' Hahaha. I had no clue WTF that meant when I saw it the first time.

Adventure films can be well received.
E.T. may be a kids movie but it is a quality movie production wise.
