Will Dexter Lawrence be a Giant for life?

Anakim : 7/26/2022 4:18 pm
Because otherwise, this tattoo may look foolish

That's easily covered over

NYG gifted him 2022 and the compensation that comes with it. He's got something to prove to demonstrate he's worth $10M per.
He is Certainly Worth $12M per Year.

but not Leonard Williams money. Will see if his performance shoots up after this year.
life?

My prediction is Mr. Lawrence will have plenty of eyes

on his play this summer/season. This new coaching staff wants to see this guy step up from putting up too many "JAG" performances.

just guessing...
He's not a DE... He is a NT/DT...

So top putting up 10 sacks as the number he's gotta hit...
Another example of a guy we didnt

Need at the time- based on what his play meant and what we were missing that could actually take advantage of what he provides.

Kind of like getting a massive snowplow, with hydraulics and even side attachments and trying to hook it to Rear wheel drive Silverado pickup.

We drafted cogs without main pieces in place- D.Law without play makers next to or behind him, Barkley without an Online etc..

Lawrence is effectively on a 2/16M deal — which is the going rate for a midrange DL. Austin Johnson signed a 2/14M agreement with the Chargers for reference.

The economics and value line up pretty well in years 4 & 5. And the Giants don’t need to revisit until March 2024, which is a lifetime away in football years.
Once a GIANT always a GIANT!

Eh, who knows.

If he continues to be a ham and egger and elects to take ham and egger money, sure, it might happen.
Hopefully, he'll step up and make

that happen. If not, he won't be the first guy to get a stupid tatoo. At least it didn't come with any babies.

Yep they tried to make him a DE when they shouldn’t have

My guess is the guy nicknamed Big Jelly is the DT and Lawrence is still a DE.
Did he play for the giants or not

Tats
Unless he suddenly becomes a sack machine

The Giants historically don't keep DTs once their rookie contract is up. I can't remember one they didn't let walk.

That seemed like a Reese thing (although it was DG that let Tomlinson walk). No clue how Schoen feels about it.
No, DTs like Lawrence are a dime a dozen
sb from NYT Forum : 7/27/2022 10:42 am : link
...well, now a dime, more like several million a dozen haha. But the point is that DTs like him are commonplace, and interchangeable.

Case in point, I feel that both BJ Hill and Austin Johnson are as good as, if not better than Dexter Lawrence. Both were easy to get (Hill a 3rd round pick and Johnson a July vet minimum UFA signing), and both make less money than Lawrence does this year.

Right now, I would rather have either BJ Hill or Austin Johnson than Dexter Lawrence, to be honest. Lawrence is a good player at times, but he is not a playmaker and he is very inconsistent.

Drafting Lawrence was another mistake in the disastrous 2019 draft. He was not worth a 1st round pick, and is not worth a big contract.

Cornelius Griffin seems to indicate it's been going on longer than that.

Ooops, my bad, I meant to say that BJ Hill and Austin Johnson make less than Lawrence's 5th year option (~$11 million), but that's his 2023 value.
