The Chiefs were a perennial playoff loser. Shottenheimer ran a great program but never had the QB. Or maybe couldn't coach in the big spot? They brought in Joe Montana and finally they had the guy.
Those Oilers' teams could score points. We all know about Kevin Gilbride. Who didn't enjoy watching Moon, Givins, and Jeffires play? There was also Buddy Ryan.
It might be a stupid question but who did you want to win?
This is such a random question, though. Lol.
The guy is a character, an Air Force sergeant (now retired) who lives in England but was born and raised in rural Tennessee. He had a few interesting sayings.
IIRC, the Chiefs and Niners both lost their Conference Championship games. Dallas beat Buffalo in a forgettable Super Bowl rematch.
In fairness to Montana, Phil Hansen cheap-shotted him from behind, after the ball was out, and Bruce Smith piled on.
Bills KO Montana - ( New Window )

where you saw how good Montana really was without the 49er dynasty around him.
he was also 37 and never the same after Leonard Marshall destroyed him in the 1990 NFCCG
Never forget! LOL

And the next week, we saw the downside of counting on Montana, when he got knocked out early in the third quarter of the AFCC.

Joe probably took this as a sign of respect, the few times his teams got their ass kicked while he finished a full game was pretty rare.
IIRC, Marty also lost a playoff game because his kicker missed multiple makeable field goals. There was also the bizarre interception / fumble in the Chargers / Pats playoff game about 12 years ago. Then of course there was the drive.
He was a great coach who had some rotten luck in the playoffs.
You could say that about almost every dynasty QB - Starr, Bradshaw, Montana, Aikman - circumstances dictated much of their success. With Montana, age and the elbow injury meant he would never be the same QB with KC.

Even in 1993 that should have been a flag
Great quarterback.
Utterly horrible human being.

...and as a Giants fan, I couldn't root for Montana. I respect him, but want him to win? Nope.

Referring to Moon. Not Montana, who is a mensch.
