Schwartz: Shane Lemieux Resembling Rich Seubert.

The idea: Get in touch with Rich Seubert to ask him if he is familiar with Shane Lemieux, currently lining up as the Giants’ starting left guard.

Seubert was the starting left guard on the Giants’ 2007 Super Bowl team, renowned for his toughness and do-anything-to-get-it-done zeal on the field. It seems as if Lemieux has some of these same qualities.

So, the call goes out, Seubert responds and is told there is something about this young offensive lineman that reminds this inside observer of him...

wat to go to be Richie. Let's see if he holds onto the starting LG position.

IMHO, Nick Gates is a better example.

Agree. I always enjoy these type of articles going back forever but PS might have to revisit again when Gates gets back on the field.
I also agree about Gates

Seems like a real stretch at this point

I guess they have to write about something.
I'll be in the minority

but I agree with Schwartz and have been saying it since Shane's rookie year.

And I don't say that lightly - Rich Seubert is one of my all-time favorite players.
In terms if toughness, I'd say it's pretty good comp....

I had no clue Seubert coached high school football.
Has he learned to pass block?

No question he can run block but he was awful as a rookie pass blocking
I love all the definitive judgements about Lemieux

based on a rookie season where he was pressed into duty without training camp.

News flash: young players improve.
Lemieux must have hired the best public relations guy

My favorite thing about the article

is that it shows everyone what happens if you win in NY. You are golden for life. It's a tough place to play and live compared to a lot of other NFL cities but the rewards are greater for the rest of your life if you win. Rich Seubert should never have to buy a meal or a drink anywhere in the Tri State area. What a story, he made himself into an excellent player. Giant fans will never forget him.

Some do, but lots of them not enough to be good players. And, as we've seen with multiple players on the Giants, starting with Slayton, some go downhill after good rookie seasons. I'd say Lemieux needs to prove it.
The difference is

that Richie could pass block.
