Rodarius Williams?

Vin_Cuccs : 8/5/2022 9:31 am
We all know the depth at defensive back is very thin, especially, at cornerback.

Rodarius Williams had a surprisingly strong camp last year and played well in spots during the season before the ACL injury. I wonder if Williams can have a role on this defense.

He is not on PUP, and it does not seem like he is limited in practice due to his health, but I haven't heard a single word about him from camp reports, tweets, posts, or stories.

Has anyone heard anything about his progress this year? Is he healthy? How has he looked in training camp?

Aren’t going to get much if any ink at this point. Goes for LBs and DLs as well. The only time they are noticed is when they get first team reps.

Williams is someone we can watch closely in preseason. I feel like he's someone along with Flott who has been working outside. Depth is thin there.
Williams is competing with every marginal NFL cornerback...

... since several will hit the waiver wire in September.

To hang on, he has to answer a bunch of questions:
1) Has he fully recovered from the ACL?
2) Does he fit the new system?
3) Can he contribute on specials above replacement-level?
4) At age 26 (older than his brother Greedy), how much upside does he offer?
5) Was he any good to begin with?

Williams has pretty good size and speed. So do many other aspiring NFL CBs.
Vin, agree he's worth keeping track of

BBB's points are valid, for sure.

What was interesting to me about his '21 camp was he came in, iirc, strictly an outside guy but with good size, 6' 193 lbs with, again irrc, a reputation as a good tackler. In camp, I guess with a crowd of CBs on the boundaries, JJ's staff decided to see what he could do at the nickel, leaving me and others scratching our heads. Williams did not seem to have the quickness, the twitchiness, or suddenness to play well there; indeed, in his first outing being thrust in the nickel with minimal practice time there--I think it was in games that counted and not exhibitions but I could be wrong--he did not fare well, couldn't keep up with the smaller, quicker receivers inside. Even though it was a WTF decision, he continued to compete but continued to get beat, but he won some praise for not giving in.

With Holmes and Flott I would assume Williams goes back outside, but it's anyone's guess. Like the OP will be worth seeing what he's got.
