Tonight is battle of the Maxs: Fried vs. Scherzer
Mets up 2-0 with Guillorme and McCann on base as I post this.
I like it. Hopefully that works out in our favor.
Odorizzi is pitching fairly well but we are definitely missing opportunities.
It's ridiculous that they didn't acquire a quality Lefty
+1, I have very little confidence in Lugo.
I was reading something about Joely in The Athletic yesterday that made it sound like he is better than his stats indicate. I'll try to find it and post it. I may also be wrong and not remembering correctly.
I like Medina more than Lopez...but seems like Mets don't feel same way??
Lopez cant even get 3 outs.
Well he's not really on the standard roster...just for the double header
It was Alderson, he is still calling the shots and he hasn't put a good Bullpen together ever during his hundred years with the Mets

Hey Eppler…fuck you.

And you know this, how? Did Sandy make to dumb fucking comments about there being a robust RP trade market after trading Holderman? No, that was Eppler.
If I had to guess, Sandy didn’t have anything to do with it. This trade deadline was a bust for Eppler, not Sandy.
Let’s see if it bites them in the ass for the next game. If I’m a betting man, runs will be hard to come by in the second game.
Lol. My thoughts exactly.
It's clear his power is less compared to previous seasons. Though, these comments were confusing. He's supposed to transition to the business side. Not sure why he is telegraphing the team's trade plans 3 weeks before the deadline.
Can't complain

The trade deadline was Sandy's MO all the way - no action until the last minute, overpaying and crappy trades, and leaving the bullpen with holes in it
Tim Britton in the Athletic said Executives thought the Mets were spooked by Alderson's awful Baez trade last year. Alderson went on Heyman and Sherman's podcast himself and said they weren't going to trade any of the big prospects because of last year's Baez trade
Eppler wasn't here last year, so if the Mets were spooked, it has to be Alderson
It was reported last winter that no quality GM candidate wanted to even interview for the Mets job because of Alderson being there. Now we know why

This is my undrstanding as well, per The Athletic, that Eppler was more reluctant to take chances in trades due to the PCA transaction.
Can't complain
Go for the jugular and win both games. Braves would be 6.5 games out by Monday
+1, my thinking as well. I thought that Snitker was running scred yesterday, when he took out Anderson in the 5th inning, with The Braves 6 runs ahead, when The Mets has 2 runners on base.
(I hope I got all the facts right, they are from my memory of yesterday's game and they may not be exact.)
Quote:
They have to at least split the Scherzer/deGrom games. Otherwise the weekend is a total disaster for them. They will leave dropping 3 games if they don't at least split.

That game got pretty close as well, as the Mets were a couple of small ball plays away from tying it up.

Yes, you're right.
Walker or Bassit might not be here next season

He doesn’t know anything, he’s making shit up. As usual.
+1. I was thinking that too, I was very pleasantly surprised by Peterson today.
I can't help but fantasize about with Magill's return, and Peterson's rebirth, that the Mets may have two solid back end starting pitchers to go with DeGrom, Scherzer, Bassit, Walker, and Carasco. I don't think any other team in baseball has that kind of quality, quantity, and depth.
