Our bullpen is a weakness, which hopefully will be hidden by the layoffs between games in the postseason and less need for no 4 and 5 starters
DREWCON...Its all good especially if the jETS SUCK......Thinking they made moves or did not, thinking McGill will be back....just wanted a Lefty
Drew, I share some of your thoughts and feelings about what Eppler did. At times, I feel that he may have just done enough, and added the needed condiments to the meal to make it perfect. On the other hand, I'm a little concerned about the bullpen, as I watch it give up runs this week, like today. Thank goodness, we were far enough ahead today that what we gave up was meaningless.
So far, Vogelbach, Ruff, and Naquin have produced what we've needed. If they can continue, I think that will be enough. I think the starting pitching is adequate, although I don't know if Walker is hurt. However, with Peterson pitching as well as he has, and Magill's return, we may have more than enough.
Back to the b.p. With May returning, Magill returning, and Peterson's quality performance, we may be able to use some, or all of them in relief, especially in the playoffs.
My understanding is that Eppler et al. are concerned about this team being self-sustaining, and not gutting the farm in order to win in the present.
So, I have mixed feelings about whether Eppler did enough or not. I can certainly see your point, and agree with you, at least at times.
Keith is great.

we can just win the battle of the Max's tonight, we won the series.
+1. I was thinking that too, I was very pleasantly surprised by Peterson today.
I can't help but fantasize about with Magill's return, and Peterson's rebirth, that the Mets may have two solid back end starting pitchers to go with DeGrom, Scherzer, Bassit, Walker, and Carasco. I don't think any other team in baseball has that kind of quality, quantity, and depth.
Peterson and Megill should be useful when we need long relief.
The team in first? 4th best record in baseball? One of the highest payrolls in the game?
That’s won 14 of kat19?
That turned over 15% of their rost before the deadline? The team who started a week prior to the deadline instead o waiting till the last minute?
The team who in a battle for first has won two of the first three games?
And now has Max Freakin Sherzer going tonight and JdG tomorrow?
I’m either in the wrong year, or my expectations have been way too low. But I’m happy as a pig in shit with the way things are going.

Well, okay then.
Good for you?
struggling this season.
+1 Totally agree. How can you not love Pete?
Simple...we win the series
Even Snablats loves Pete.
He just got entrenched in his heel arc and kind find his way out.
Redemption arc incoming...!

Wtf
struggling this season.
Struggling at bunting?? Maybe...I haven't really paid attention..
But Nimmo is having a damn good year otherwise... 122 OPS+... Same oWAR rate as last year basically..
And then there are Gary, Keith, and Ronny. From the ridiculous to the sublime.
Yes we could have done more to upgrade Bp which is what I wanted too but teams were asking for alot because the knew that was the only weak spot the Mets have shown.
Everyone bitched after the PCA trade last year and still bitch about it so now, so all of a sudden our GM decides to stick to his guns and not move prospects and he's getting crushed again. you can't have it both ways people
Also like Shecky said this is the 2022 Mets, can you just enjoy this. We all know how much worse it was before this...
This appreciation is what makes us different from entitled Yankee fans.
Would be nice to get some runs here, but this one feels like it's gonna be a tense one..

Hey Eppler…fuck you.
It was Alderson, he is still calling the shots and he hasn't put a good Bullpen together ever during his hundred years with the Mets
And you know this, how? Did Sandy make to dumb fucking comments about there being a robust RP trade market after trading Holderman? No, that was Eppler.
If I had to guess, Sandy didn’t have anything to do with it. This trade deadline was a bust for Eppler, not Sandy.
The trade deadline was Sandy's MO all the way - no action until the last minute, overpaying and crappy trades, and leaving the bullpen with holes in it
Tim Britton in the Athletic said Executives thought the Mets were spooked by Alderson's awful Baez trade last year. Alderson went on Heyman and Sherman's podcast himself and said they weren't going to trade any of the big prospects because of last year's Baez trade
Eppler wasn't here last year, so if the Mets were spooked, it has to be Alderson
It was reported last winter that no quality GM candidate wanted to even interview for the Mets job because of Alderson being there. Now we know why
your obsession has me worried about Aldersons well being...
and Diaz at the back end.
also Win or Loss this series is fucking great
:)

Oh fucking please. So glad that the negativity police are out in full force tonight. Heaven forbid anyone criticize anything about the Mets. Clearly since they are in first place…it means that every decision was the perfect one.
Here’s a novel thought…people are still able to greatly enjoy this team and season while also being able to talk about the crap decisions they make. Like, completely botching the RP market at the tradeline.
How about we stop telling people how to feel? Nobody is going overboard here.

I had a whole reply to you typed out but its your opinion and I respect that but when does constructive criticism turn into nitpicking?
all good tho
Doubt it. Is Lugo available?
I wish Buck would take Givens out now.
Come on, now you are just nitpicking 😁
