The Chiefs released CB DeAndre Baker, a former first-round pick by the Giants. He was down on the depth chart after the Chiefs drafted Trent McDuffie, Josh Williams and Jaylen Watson and traded for Lonnie Johnson.
Yep and points to how difficult scouting is. Apple and Baker two highly rated CBs that were total busts.

True, but (not trying to polish a turd) didn't Apple have one year where there was a glimmer of him showing "shutdown" promise?

At least his wikipedia page doesn't list Cooper Kupp as his dad anymore
What sucks is we traded back up into the first to get him. So we waisted extra resources on him too boot.
Nobody on here knew shit.
Yet EA is still in the league is, odd!

Apple is a terrible NFL player.
Baker isn't a NFL player period.
From my memory it was Greedy Williams that was getting all the talk. But I could be wrong. I just remember not being that high on him and it being an opposing point of view at the time. With that said i still would have taken him over Baker at the time.
I had at one point called DK Metcalf a top 6 player and someone how should be on the radar for the Giants.
The bad
I had JJ Arcega-Whiteside as a 1st Rounder
Other takes...
Josh Allen LB as 2nd best player in the draft after Bosa
Said Rashan Gary was a 2nd rounder
I wanted Montez Sweat instead on Dex, but I did quickly grow to love the pick.
Was high on Rock Ya Sin, he went about where I thought though
I also thought Julian Love was a high 2nd Rounder.
Soon as Oakland took Ferrell, I started to believe that Josh Allen was a possibility and started to chant his name. I was a Jones fan, so I got over it, but it was a let down for sure.

But baker takes the cake. Aware he was a late first but what a mess of a player.

Worse there is no reason to think Baker wouldn't have been there at 39 or whatever the pick was if they had just stayed where they were.
Same can be said about 2018.
DG was the worst employee the Giants ever had
As much as I hate Dave Gettleman, the Baker pick barely makes the list of his top screw-ups. It was a calculated risk, and it didn’t work out. Even the trade-up wasn’t that bad. If you look at what was available at #132 and #142, those picks were basically lottery tickets: nice to have, but very unlikely to produce any difference-makers. The Seahawks did relatively well with those two picks, getting two backups, Amadi (still around as the backup nickel) and Burr-Kirven (probably done with a knee).
