Just find a way to f up good pitchers. Something to think about is our catchers
Do they help with the way they call the games. Not saying how the frame or throw but rather call the game. Molina just looks like he knows how to call the game. He did a great job with Monty who was struggling with us.
they had to hit a swoon sooner or later, and this lineup is not quite the one that was getting things done... Pitching has been suspect for about a month now and leading that is the Ace. Besides Mr. Metrics is screwing up the BP buy bringing them in early and often when he should just stay with the starter. Anyhow, still a long way to go and still in the drivers seat, let's hope we don't turn into the BoSox of '78
game threads be like when the team is actually bad?
The Yankees have been kinda bad the last month.
Anyway, we weren’t trading for Scherzer or DeGrom; Montas was a good pickup and a very good MLB starter, but he is not going to pitch lights out every start.
and Rizzo to get healthy ASAP. And the pitching staff is a total mess right now. Only one who seems reliable is Cortes and who knows how long that will stay.
They've got a 10 game lead over the Blue Jays so you would hope that's not in play but they are definitely going in the wrong direction. If the Blue Jays get it down to 5 by the end of August anything can happen
Holding off houston for #1 seed looks like it's going to be an uphill battle now despite being up like 7 games just a month ago

Lead is down to 9 1/2 games. The picture staff is a total mess. Cashman should have gone in on Castillo. Lead will be down to 5 in no time.

How do the resident experts tell us not to complain?
Team better not get their asses handed to them in Seattle, that’s all I have to say.
Complaining is what you’re good at. Nobody is telling you stop doing what you do. If you weren’t complaining, what else would you be doing? Just be yourself, man. We all expect it anyways

Molina is my neighbor in Jupiter during the winter. I think his place was up for sale though.

Ya think? He's likely a Hall of Fame, but not for his bat, that's for sure.
“I think signing those arms was great, but I think it all goes back to Yadi just being here,” #STLCards 3B Nolan Arenado said. “There’s something about his presence that changes everything.”
LOL. This whole thread is pretty pathetic. You know who has no heart? All the little rat fans on this thread scurrying off the bandwagon in early August
the team isn’t pathetic, I have enough going on in my life to not come to a fourm and gloat when the team wins. However, when team’s losing is detracting from my enjoyment of sports, what’s wrong with coming on here to vent? You don’t go to a therapist to talk about how great your life is.
BTW, with our resources, asking for more than one WS appearance in 13 years is not us Yankee fans being ungrateful or unrealistic.
Nobody’s arguing the Yankees aren’t in a deep rut, our starting pitching hasn’t been mediocre for over a month, and Montas didn’t suck balls yesterday. But the incessant whining is over the top. Let’s see if this team has the guts (and health) to turn it back around.
But when the Yanks lose a few games, some of you guys really lose your minds. It’s a long season, I don’t see the reason to jump ship in early August

They've been average the last month. Rizzo and Stanton are banged up. Our ace got shelled before recording an out his last start and his ERA is over 3. German and Cortes have been ok, the rest not so much. The bullpen has really struggled as well and the recent big SP acquisition got shelled (in learning of the bereavement situation and late arrival it was dumb to throw him out there).
And with all of that said, they're still handing out rest days and coming out with some questionable lineups. They're prioritizing health over home field advantage, we'll see how that works out.
Fans have every right to be concerned. "Fan" is short for fanatic. Situational hitting has killed this team in the playoffs and its again been problematic.
Now with that said I really like a fully healthy 1-9. Judge, Stanton and Rizzo provide good power and now you balance that out with Benintendi, Carpenter and DJ. Trevino hits over .300 with RISP. He's been God sent.
do you want home field and a gimpy Judge/Stanton/etc or do you want as healthy a roster as you can possibly have?
All these years later of giving players rest how are you guys not used to it by now? Rest days are never going to stop and if you want to give Judge $400m, get used to him having his dedicates off days.
The rest days and lineups that people don’t like happened when they were winning. It’s funny to hear the complaints now.
to go smoothly every month. Players have slumps. Teams have slumps. The Yankees have an older team in the dog days of August and two of their best three hitters aren't playing right now. It's not an excuse, it's where they're at right now.
Yankee seasons are always going to be defined by whether they reach and win the World Series. So this years story is still to be written.
I have to say I'm surprised by how much the Montgomery trade seems to have affected the mood around the team. The whole trade deadline seems to have been more of a disruption than recent years. There seems to be tremendous pressure on the players. It doesn't seem to be much fun to be a Yankee these days. Hopefully a month from now everyone will be healthy and gearing up for a good playoff run.
I think it will be a very strange off season if there's another early playoff failure.

Let’s get some payback in Seattle.
Wait, so you have enough going on in your life that you're too busy to post when things are going well, but you have plenty of time to vent when things aren't going well? What, do you clear your schedule so that you can complain?
Did you really think your post was a solid justification for being a whiny c*nt on every NYY thread?

Have they won in October? Have they shown an ability in the past to beat the Astros in Houston? Have the Astros been more vulnerable at Yankee Stadium?
Maybe you're not aware but Kay, Cone and O'Neill have all made comments on the rest days. Guys clearly tapped in to the organization have hinted at questioning the philosophy.
Haven't made a WS since 09. I root for the Yankees but they don't get blind benefit of the doubt. Up to this point a lot of their strategy hasn't worked. They finally addressed the lineup and balanced it out. I think they will hit this postseason. We'll see.
losing an early August game when Judge rests has nothing to do with October - if anything it (him resting) should help. You seem to be arguing for something I have even addressed which is playoff performance.
This thread is titled “Montas sucks” not “Yankees can’t win a title”.

Worth taking into account, but the pitching, with an exception or two (German has looked better, for example), has been headed south for a while, before the Monty trade rumour became a reality. Has the pitching been fixed? No sign of that yet. Yesterday's game showed our pitching newcomers at their worst and not their best -- at least I hope so.

For the Yankees?
Regression to the mean, and regressing fast. Doubt they win 100.
They cant hold a lead. They walk too many guys. Cant get a big hit outside of judge.
This team is going NOWHERE fast if they dont get shut togetger....
