Mets K'd 19 batters, I wonder if that ties Coney for most in a Mets 9 inning game.

Well, it would tie Seaver, since he did it in 1970 in a famous game where he struck out the final 10 hitters. 10 straight Ks is still the record 52 years later, was tied last season

With a healthy deGrom and Scherzer making 4 combined starts (possibly) in a 7 game series with Diaz at the back end it's got to be brutal on other teams.

Just need to get there. healthy.

and that's not to minimize what Carrasco has done, or Ottavino, or Walker and Bassitt...or the lineup.

those three pieces (deGrom, Scherzer and Diaz) are they key IMO.

Yes, Ebbs Brewing is now in the Mikkeler space. Same concept and similar to Mikkeler. I enjoyed it in June when I was there. Good beer.

Funny article linked below about Ebbs Brewery. The beer may be good but my disdain for the Wilpons (owned by Bruce Wilpon) will prevent me from dropping a single dime in that place. From the article:

“Those numbers after the Ebbs beers are different beers. Ebbs has decided not to name beers, for..reasons. I dare you to figure out the difference between Lager 1 and Lager 3 without a detailed description. Does this mean the bartender has to explain it to literally everyone that’s ordering? Gose 1 has watermelon, which isn’t the standard Gose recipe, so it might be nice to know that?

Ebbs whole aesthetic is this simple “our recipe is just the style and the recipe number” as per their “our story” on their website, which is full of snarky answers and avoiding their own questions. For instance, they’re snarky about what Ebbs means. “It sure does.” they say. Ebbs brand identity was designed by Pentagram, and according to them:

The name “Ebbs” is short, strong and simple, evoking water and New York’s rivers and harbor, as well as Ebbets Field, the home of the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team.”

So, yeah…it’s just another Wilpon homage within the walls of citified to the Dodgers (the team the Wilpons really wished they owned).

Those tears must taste quite salty.

Personally, I love this. We are renting space in their head right now.

But, great idea…piss off the team that just took 4 of 5 games from you in a pennant race. Who thinks this is already up on the Mets bulletin board?

What a special performance by Degrom, Joely, and Sugar Diaz.

DeGrom was making it seem so easy that most people at the game never noticed that he had a perfect game going into the 6th inning.

Considering he was still building up his pitching count, it made this even more impressive.

Suck it, Braves!

Pretty simple. Hire a veteran manager and let him manage, and the players respect him because they know he is making decisions. Let the front office hire newbies or retreads with no other options so the front office can dictate everything, as the Mets did for years, and the players know the manager is a puppet and dont have the same respect

Lots of roster moves coming in Mets minor leagues this week including third base prospect Brett Baty likely going to Triple-A Syracuse.

Baty hit .312/.406/.544 with 22 doubles, 19 home runs, and 52 RBIs in 89 games for Double-A Binghamton.

I’ve ever had. It was celebratory and actually pretty emotional. We were standing in Section 109 more than we were sitting and singing along to Simple Man was spine-tingling.

1st base stands were blazing hot but fans were amped throughout.

Such an important weekend on the field. In 06 and 15, the Barves weren’t really on the radar. We have never actually won the East by just beating the Barves for it. Just didn’t feel like the sky is about to fall - at all.

Felt like the fan base was just like “we’re better. That’s it.” And its been a long time coming. Gonna try and catch all of Jake’s home starts rest of the way. Amazin’ day!
night and day from last year - buck and the FO deserve a lot of credit
Eric on Li : 8/8/2022 11:07 am : link
last year post-deadline they started their playoff push by dropping series to the marlins and reds, then totally no-showed against philly in a sweep. they lost 8 one run games to the LAD/SFG just in august. during that period of time you had all the off the field nonsense with zack scott calling out the players for their off field habits and lindor/baez doing the thumbs down.

buck and scherzer and marte have remade this clubhouse while on the field '95 or walk' has become the team's signature. from the signings of canha/marte through the deadline pickups of vogelbach/naquin/ruf we can see a consistent philosophy that has worked. they grind pitchers down and get the big hit. strider's comments are telling in how much this team can frustrate even very good pitchers.

the guy who deserves the most credit though is Cohen because this is all only possible with him doubling the payroll from the wilpon years and making good decisions rebuilding the org - all of the above included.

I don't remember the game 4 details. One thing I do remember from that series is David Cone giving the Dodgers pretty major bulletin board motivation after game 1 and then getting badly smacked around by them early in game 2.

I just looked at the box score and it was as bad as I remembered. Cone gave up 5 ER in 2 innings (22.5 ERA).

We'll never know exactly how much of a difference it made (or whether it negatively affected Cone more than motivated the Dodgers), but the Mets were 12-1 against the Dodgers that year (including game 1) before Cone wrote his stupid article and fired them up. The Mets ended up losing 4 of the next 6 to them.

Just another example of a player who should've done his talking with his performance on the field!
