OL Eric Smith is signing with the #Giants, per source. Smith, 26, is a former Virginia standout — he worked out for the team this morning and was previously with the GMEN in 2019.
wonder who the swing OT will be. Right now we have Hamilton, McGhin, Holden, and Smith, all veteran journeymen. Will it be one of them or a waiver wire pickup after final cuts?

It has to be Ezeudu which is a bit disappointing as it would be much better for his development if he could focus solely on Guard rather than G, LT, and RT.
should be an improvement over the last couple of seasons, where most of the starters were barely backup worthy.
Can't fix everything in a day.
I disagree with the idea that we're going nowhere this year. Doubtful we're going far, but we should have a better season than last. This is unfortunate if, as expected, QB is a top need, and the couple of extra wins we pick up drop us into middle of the pack draft zone.
was that tackle that flamed out with the Titans that we signed last year? Seemed like he was trying to turn his life around but it was a long shot. Is he still around?
(not asking because I think he can solve our depth woes or anything, this thread just made me think of him)

New York Giants signing offensive tackle Eric Smith, per a league source. This is his second stint with the Giants
He's not good but think they need a body there until preseason is over.
Yes, in pole position to be Swing Tackle and Swing Guard. Garcia and now Smith as other reserves.
Still need to figure out backup Center. Lemieux ain’t it...
No. He was undrafted. He was a waiver claim off of the Jets.
Maybe thinking of Eric Fisher?

The Cardinal game was in 2020.
Smith was here in 2019 and played most of one game vs the Jets, when both Remmers and Halapio were out with injuries.
Giants gave up six sacks in that one.

Believe he started that Cardinal game back in 2019 when Jones was immobile and the offensive line surrendered like 8 sacks.

You're right. I had things mixed up on my behalf.
The line couldn't run block that game either.
Funny you mentioned Remmers. He is still a FA.

Is it after the first game of the season that you can sign a vet and not be obligated to pay for the full season?

Ezeudu is the only option off the bench I don't feel awful about, and he's an unproven rook so even he could be a disaster.
Gates & Peart returning at some point may help, but they cannot go into the regular season without a legit swing tackle and backup center.
This group of journeymen/CFL caliber tackles and Jamil Douglas will get DJ killed if any of them are forced into action.

You do realize that this team is going nowhere in 2022, right?
This line looks better on paper than it has since 2010. Takes progress and time to get.
Depth is an issue but cuts will slip someone decent away who isn't completely awful. They always do.
