FF Keeper Question

ryanmkeane : 8/7/2022 9:32 pm
Alright gents - I’m in a 12 team league (0.5 per reception) and regular rules otherwise. 3 keepers - and the only caveat is you can only keep 2 at the same position. No rules for how many years kept, etc. You lose your first 3 round draft picks no matter who you keep, it doesn’t go by where you drafted them the previous year. I’ve got 5 players for 3 slots.

Austin Ekeler
Javonte Williams
D’Andre Swift
CeeDee Lamb
A.J. Brown

My initial thought was Ekeler, Williams, and Lamb. Thoughts? I actually won the league last year with Stafford as QB. Won’t be keeping him, other option is DJ Moore but clearly not as good as the other options. Any advice would be appreciated!
I think you

have it right
I like swift more than Williams

Swift is a breakout candidate and detroits OLine is actually pretty good.

I guess the other question is would I be completely stupid to not keep Ekeler? This might be his last season as a legit top 10 guy due to age, injuries, etc.

Most of the fantasy gurus seem to agree but it feels like Williams has a lot more TD potential with Wilson there now.
Call me crazy

but I am going Williams, Swift, CeeDee. Ekeler is going to have a tough time putting up the same TDs again, and seems to be banged up a lot. Isaiah Spiller could cut into his work load. I would play the long game with your other options.

I had been thinking that too. It’s a young man’s league and Ekeler’s season last year might have just been one of those weirdly amazing ones that is never seen again from him, where Swift and Williams are only going up from here.
You have it

Right.

And Javonte will be incredible.
I like Swift more in PPR than half PPR

I’d keep Ekeler, Williams, and Lamb as you initially thought.
You keep Ekeler until he isn’t peoductive
GNewGiants : 8/8/2022 5:10 am : link
He is only 27. He will catch over 85 passes this year. He may not get 20 TDs but I would bet good money he still gets 12 TDs this year with that offense

Don’t over think that one.
I’m in a similar predicament

I am deciding on who to keep between Swift and Javonte Williams, to me I think Swift is the better choice. Plays a better schedule, better OL and system, and also doesn’t have anyone behind him that will eat into his carries. Remember that Denver resigned Gordon, I think I’d rather take Gordon later in the draft as they will likely put up similar numbers. Swift just seems like the better choice, and in PPR it’s not even as close.
Never played in a Keeper league

but do you get the first three picks of the draft if you keep no one and everyone else keeps 3? Not saying that is rational just curious as to process.

Yes, you would get the first 3 picks if everyone else keeps 3. Typically, you'll have it scattered where a few teams keep 3, 2, 1, or even none. And depending on your order in the snake, thats where you would pick. If you had the 10th overall pick and you didn't keep anyone, you would get to pick there. If you kept 1 guy, that would be your pick, and then youd start drafting in round 2, etc.

Swift is higher ranked than Williams in most full PPR rankings. Fantasypros has Swift as RB8 and Williams as RB13. ADP for Swift of 14.7 and Williams of 23.5 so they're close about a 1/2 round difference in 12 team.

1/2 PPR it's close Swift is RB9/14.8 and Williams is RB11/19.3

I wouldn't begrudge anyone for picking either.
Since there's no benefit for draft picks keeping one over the other
JayBinQueens : 8/8/2022 9:05 am : link
I'd probably go the 3 RBs. Give yourself a positional advantage, probably over everyone. You can find wrs that can put up points. Keep more WR on your bench and you'll more than likely hit on one or two, which you'd be able to keep next year instead of Ekler

That would make sense if their rules did not prohibit keeping more than 2 at a position. I would almost consider just keeping 2 RB and not bothering to keep a WR.
..
ryanmkeane : 8/8/2022 9:13 am : link
yep, unfortunately the rules are you can only keep 2 at one position. That's why Lamb is a definite keep for me regardless of the other RBs. I am leaning towards Swift and Williams. They could be really really good for 3-4 more years even after this season. Ekeler is likely done producing at the level he has been.
Well

When do you find out what pick you have in the draft?
Williams over Swift for me
UConn4523 : 8/8/2022 9:51 am : link
better player flat out and now that there’s a QB in Denver, his scoring opportunities will rise. I also don’t like how Swift is always nursing something. He seems like a good bet to miss time.
