Why?
Eric from BBI : Admin : 8/7/2022 10:13 pm : link
If he doesn't throw that away, it's a pick 6.

That looks like one of those funny YouTube videos that’s been edited to look more outrageous than reality.

That was also an incredibly bad route the WR ran. Wtf was that?
Is that Golladay?

I don't think I've ever seen a DB demonstrate less respect for a WR's speed.

And no idea what kind of cut that was supposed to be.

anything wrong here, looked like a decent decision to throw it away, it was clear the DB would have jumped it easily?

Can we put in a good word for Aaron Robinson?

Nice work to force the throwaway. (And yes, Golladay looks like he’s picking up where he left off in 2021.)

if we want to be honest, it was like 10 yards to the right of where it should have been. It looks more like a missed throw than a “throw away” pass.

Buckle up guys, it’s going to be a long year. But unlike the past few I think we’ll see a well coached team that will at least score some points and make it entertaining for the fans. They’ll get their future QB in 2023.
Hard to believe you haven't seen a play like that before

The only thing I take away from that clip is that Golladay is washed up and severely overpaid.

Based solely on 5/6 days of practice video I’ve seen — Its Raiders v. Dolphins in the AFC championship. Rams v. Eagles in the NFC championship. The Cowboys Trevon Diggs will get burned for 27 TD’s although none will come against Daniel Jones who will complete 24% of his throws.

I have never been a big Daniel Jones guy
Andy in Halifax : 8/8/2022 7:44 am : link
I think his ceiling is "fine", but I don't see a big problem with that play. Leonard Williams absolutely wrecked that play, so it looks like a rushed throw or throwaway to a safe place.

It also looked like the WR and QB had different ideas, quite possibly from being rushed, but it seems like that may be a thing in this offense until the WRs and Qb and build some cohesion with enough reps. Offering freedom to WRs is great, but I think you will see a lot of miscommunication type incompletions early in the year.
The criticism heaped upon Daniel Jones

very distant galleries. It isn't just Earth.

It was an ugly play from a scrimmage. Lazy route run by Golladay and perhaps a bit off the mark by Jones. Couldn't be less of a big deal.

Jones' accuracy has never really been the issue. It's the decision making. But when a guy is down, these are the things people focus on.

I'd rather that, than having to use a number of draft picks to get a new guy who may or may not be any better. My guess is that Jones has a perfectly respectable season. Some will argue that he is good enough. Others will say he is not elite and we have to move on. Both groups will have some evidence on their side. It would be great if it would be clear cut...but we all know that it will not be.

You mean would hope we have a competent o-line, HC and OC.

It is the first head coaching gig for Daboll, it is the first time Kafka is running an offense, and the line has AT and Glowinski who have played well in the NFL before, a rookie RT, a journeyman at center, and an unknown in SL. One rookie backup that looks promising, and nothing after that on the line.

Yes, the qb doesn't need help with that.

A lesser qb might have thrown it a little high and just a tad more toward the receiver and let the big receiver box the db especially since this is practice and his coach instructed him to take more chances. We are fortunate to have a guy who knows the severe limitations of his accuracy and arm and heaved it out of bounds.
Honest to God, I couldn't care less about this.

Did you even watch the clip? At what point before Jones was gonna get throttled (in practice terms) did it look like Golladay was in position to catch a ball thrown to his outside?

Also, it doesn’t take a football savant to conclude that the two probably weren’t on the same page in the route. The WRs have spoke often about the route trees having “options” in this system. It’s very likely that Jones seen the defender string inside and thought Golladay would break outside. That was a horrific route run by Golladay. ButvDanny boy is an easy target for the mouth breathers so go get him, boys!

I just think that Golladay took his sweet time getting to the place he should have been. It looked like a timing route they have run a lot, just the way Jones took a couple steps and then threw. If Golladay runs a lazy route he won't get back to where Jones expects. I also think the plan is to throw that high and outside to make sure there is no pick, those passes when thrown on the inside shoulder are very susceptible to an INT.
Yeah, makes sense.
cosmicj : 8/8/2022 12:13 pm : link
Golladay is quickly becoming one of my least favorite players ever.

This is a guy who played for 2 years at that CFB powerhouse Northern Illinois, the plays for the Lions. Then the Giants. One lousy program after another. Then he acts like he’s Randy Moss.

BBS, lol, exactly. KG had zero investment in that route, stumbled/slipped and our home grown, bitter HJ45 savant suggests throwing it 'a little high and a tad more to the receiver'. That would have been high risk of pic 6 given the lethargy shown by KG.

Agree with cosmicj's sentiment above.

@CSimmsQB
I see some calling this as a bad throw by Daniel Jones. This is a throwaway.
If that ball is on target, it’s a pick. He read the play, realized the CB’s leverage, and threw it where only his guy could get it

Also, Giants fans, stop over-analyzing scrimmage clips on August 8th
People need to rewatch this clip...
bw in dc : 8/8/2022 1:15 pm : link
Jones has a clean pocket. Williams isn't going to hit him - because he can't - and there is an opportunity, if Jones had a plus arm and better footwork, to make a high throw towards KG's left shoulder to complete the pass. A throw like that would be to a spot where only KG can catch it.

But throws like that are not in Jones's repertoire, so the outcome is probably best for a QB with Jones's limitations.
If the ball is catchable...
