But getting worried about Thomas being beaten repeatedly by Thibs. I’m expecting a breakout season for Thomas, and a rookie handling him isn’t a good sign.

#Giants Barkley with a catch and hurdle over a defender.

The hurdle stuff was one of his signature, highlight-reel moves at PSU, but the risk-reward at the pro level is way less favorable. I wish he would knock it off.

I know a number of fans get excited about aggression, but I find Feliciano to be a bit of asshole who has never backed it up on the field.

He’s doing no one any favors if he breaks his hand punching a helmet.

The fight overshadowed the bigger story of the day: Major struggle for Jones and the offense. He had two interceptions: one on a deep pass he floated that gave Xavier McKinney time to get over and another on an over-throw that was caught by Adoree’ Jackson. Out of sorts all day.

Agree about the Saquon hurdle. As he sails in the air, the defenders are all closing in.

It’s a sign he’d rather look good than win.

Giants Training Camp Day 9 thots

•Daniel Jones & passing offense overall was brutal today
•Fight was insane and was brewing
•Adoree’ Jackson having a great camp
•Darius Slayton w/ a couple big plays
•Heavy emphasis on playaction
•Jeremiah Hall w/ 1st team & had nice catch
So, Bobby Johnson seems like a POS:

The Jones crappy play
jvm52106 : 8/8/2022 12:18 pm : link
continues. I am most disappointed in the fact that the issues aren't mix up on the play or just not comfortable in the offense yet it is stuff like FLOATS the ball deep to be intercepted or throws wild high to the WR.

The Giants needed a change organizationally and that needs to be with Jones as well. Let Taylor start (or get a guy from elsewhere) and develop the offensive scheme with an eye towards the future (and future QB).
Looking forward to Sy’s report today

will probably look like this: tough defense, tough running, and Jones minimizing his mistakes. Expectations need to be kept in check. We're not going to have a complete team, but I'm hoping to see some strengths developing.

I agree, and that approach can win a lot of games, maybe even the division. The key will be good coaching.

Guess you were there to tell us about holding the ball too long? Were the receivers open?
Has anyone else put serious thought
90.Cal : 8/8/2022 12:54 pm : link
Into wondering if this team wins more games with Tyrod Taylor as the QB over Daniel Jones?

It's gotten that bad. Daniel holds the ball wayyyyy too long. His deep ball is nicer than Tyrod but Tyrod is wayyyy better in the quick passing game and has more zip on the quick passes. His release is better/throwing motion is faster. He sees the defense faster. Tyrod can make plays with his legs just as much as Daniel can. This is looking bad for Daniel. I know I've been ringing the alarm every practice now but the fact is this has been a BAD camp thus far for Daniel Jones and that's a fact, I've watched like 5 practices live now and I don't want to hear the opinions of you Daniel defenders who just read tweets and haven't been to watch a single camp practice as of yet. I've defended Jones alot to this point but I can't pretend I'm blind to what I've been seeing. It's getting worse not better. He was at his best in preseason of his rookie year his development just hasn't been there, period.

I wish we could see more of Tyrod with the 1s to give us a better tell if Tyrod would make this team/offense better. Daniel has done nothing to solidify the starting QB job IMO.

NFL QBs have to throw into tight windows on Sunday... if Daniel can't do it in practice.... good luck.

Overall, rough day for the Giants first-team offense. Daniel Jones threw a pair of interceptions and went 5-of-15 passing. Kadarius Toney had a pair of drops (and a third in individual drills). Not crisp at all.
Toney may have struggled with Drops today
90.Cal : 8/8/2022 12:59 pm : link
But this offense is absolutely one dimensional (Saquon or bust) when Toney is not on the field. If the WR's dont stay healthy (Toney most of all) this will be a struggle just to not be a bottom 10 offense IMO.
The games will tell all we need to
PatersonPlank : 8/8/2022 12:59 pm : link
know about Jones. Practice is practice, let the games play out and then see. I'm extremely confident that after the preseason Daboll will know what Jones can/cannot do, and he will make the appropriate decision to save his own skin. His job is aligned with winning football games, and I doubt he will be tied to anyone. Also frankly I am just interested in watching the games play out, and don't care who the right answer is.

IMO trying to make any decisions, and getting all worked up, from August practices is a huge waste of time. We just don't know enough about what is happening out there.

I have. Or at least, I've wondered why it should be controversial to think that Taylor might simply be a better QB than Jones. Taylor's actually had some pretty legitimate success in the NFL. He's simply been injured quite a few times and then replaced by a QB who wound up being pretty damn decent.

This is 100% true, I agree.

But I won't act surprised when Daniel struggles, I would be happily surprised to see all the lights turn on and things finally start to click but to your point you never know until they line up and play a real game for 60 minutes.

Why, thats what they brought in Tyrod for. It seems pretty well thought out if you ask me. Jones can't cut it, play an acceptable journeyman QB this season instead (not a bum like Glennon), get a high draft pick next year and try to find a QB again
Do you think there could be
section125 : 8/8/2022 1:17 pm : link
a market for trading Jones? Would save about $4.1 mill if traded with a $4.2 dead money hit.
Roll with Taylor and Webb.

It wouldn't be my choice. We know what Taylor is. I'd rather add one of the QBs that came out and throw him into the fire. Wiklis, Ridder, Corral, Howell or Strong. At least they still have upside. And if they fail you get a top 3 pick.

Jones’s roster bonus was paid on Friday. There would be less than 1M in cap savings if he’s traded now.

I will say that your point about practice needs to be taken a bit deeper tough. Every bad throw, every int etc is a play taken away from the receiver, the confidence of the offense and even the confidence of the QB. If you cannot have success in practice you sure won't be seeing success in the games.

Don't forget, while this is a new system for the offense, it is a new system for the defense too.
