Another drop by 89. Day to forget for the young man

#Giants Barkley with a catch and hurdle over a defender.
The hurdle stuff was one of his signature, highlight-reel moves at PSU, but the risk-reward at the pro level is way less favorable. I wish he would knock it off.
He’s doing no one any favors if he breaks his hand punching a helmet.

The fight overshadowed the bigger story of the day: Major struggle for Jones and the offense. He had two interceptions: one on a deep pass he floated that gave Xavier McKinney time to get over and another on an over-throw that was caught by Adoree’ Jackson. Out of sorts all day.
It’s a sign he’d rather look good than win.
Because he is at Jets camp today. He covers both teams.
Well, not every rookie is created equal. I think it's safe to say that there were a few Giants rookie LB's who gave veteran OT's fits.

Not ideal. I have a feeling that the Jimmy G calls will hit a crescendo if DJ and the offense struggle during preseason
@BobbySkinner_
Giants Training Camp Day 9 thots
•Daniel Jones & passing offense overall was brutal today
•Fight was insane and was brewing
•Adoree’ Jackson having a great camp
•Darius Slayton w/ a couple big plays
•Heavy emphasis on playaction
•Jeremiah Hall w/ 1st team & had nice catch

Not sure how much I like an offensive line coach basically starting a fight

I'm obviously not there, but it doesn't sound like he started it. He just contributed to it and helped fuel the fire, which I said above is not exactly professional.
It’s a sign he’d rather look good than win.
Not sure if serious, although considering your posts, I think I know the answer.
Good lord

Giants TE/H-Back Andre Miller broke his forearm, per source.
Was having a good camp going from an UDFA out of Maine to working with the 1st team. Not sure on timetable for return.
The Giants needed a change organizationally and that needs to be with Jones as well. Let Taylor start (or get a guy from elsewhere) and develop the offensive scheme with an eye towards the future (and future QB).
Wait to hear from Sy.

This is either a terrible joke or you're an idiot.
Great. At least Kayvon looks ad advertised

lol more than half the fanbase barely thinks Jimmy G is better than Jones. There's definitely not going to be much clamoring for him.
I agree, and that approach can win a lot of games, maybe even the division. The key will be good coaching.

Guess you were there to tell us about holding the ball too long? Were the receivers open?
It's gotten that bad. Daniel holds the ball wayyyyy too long. His deep ball is nicer than Tyrod but Tyrod is wayyyy better in the quick passing game and has more zip on the quick passes. His release is better/throwing motion is faster. He sees the defense faster. Tyrod can make plays with his legs just as much as Daniel can. This is looking bad for Daniel. I know I've been ringing the alarm every practice now but the fact is this has been a BAD camp thus far for Daniel Jones and that's a fact, I've watched like 5 practices live now and I don't want to hear the opinions of you Daniel defenders who just read tweets and haven't been to watch a single camp practice as of yet. I've defended Jones alot to this point but I can't pretend I'm blind to what I've been seeing. It's getting worse not better. He was at his best in preseason of his rookie year his development just hasn't been there, period.
I wish we could see more of Tyrod with the 1s to give us a better tell if Tyrod would make this team/offense better. Daniel has done nothing to solidify the starting QB job IMO.

Inaccurate yet again... not alot of zip, no change there... sigh.

NFL QBs have to throw into tight windows on Sunday... if Daniel can't do it in practice.... good luck.
I've been to 5 + fanfest.
@BobbySkinner_
Had Daniel Jones at 5/16 with 2 INT’s & 2 drops from Kadarius Toney. A lot of would be sacks in there too. Just a brutal day for the passing offense.

Giants are working out more players inside. Can’t see who.

Based on the personnel staff/coaches leaving the field house it looks like there may have been another OL workout today.

@JordanRaanan
Overall, rough day for the Giants first-team offense. Daniel Jones threw a pair of interceptions and went 5-of-15 passing. Kadarius Toney had a pair of drops (and a third in individual drills). Not crisp at all.
IMO trying to make any decisions, and getting all worked up, from August practices is a huge waste of time. We just don't know enough about what is happening out there.
I have. Or at least, I've wondered why it should be controversial to think that Taylor might simply be a better QB than Jones. Taylor's actually had some pretty legitimate success in the NFL. He's simply been injured quite a few times and then replaced by a QB who wound up being pretty damn decent.

This is 100% true, I agree.
But I won't act surprised when Daniel struggles, I would be happily surprised to see all the lights turn on and things finally start to click but to your point you never know until they line up and play a real game for 60 minutes.
Time to scout this year’s college QB class for sure
Why, thats what they brought in Tyrod for. It seems pretty well thought out if you ask me. Jones can't cut it, play an acceptable journeyman QB this season instead (not a bum like Glennon), get a high draft pick next year and try to find a QB again
Roll with Taylor and Webb.

in the DJ basket for yet another season. Might have been good to spend a 3rd on lottery ticket QB.

It wouldn't be my choice. We know what Taylor is. I'd rather add one of the QBs that came out and throw him into the fire. Wiklis, Ridder, Corral, Howell or Strong. At least they still have upside. And if they fail you get a top 3 pick.
Roll with Taylor and Webb.
Jones’s roster bonus was paid on Friday. There would be less than 1M in cap savings if he’s traded now.
Roll with Taylor and Webb.
Does that mean the buying team pays $4M approx. If do then I think not.

I will say that your point about practice needs to be taken a bit deeper tough. Every bad throw, every int etc is a play taken away from the receiver, the confidence of the offense and even the confidence of the QB. If you cannot have success in practice you sure won't be seeing success in the games.
Don't forget, while this is a new system for the offense, it is a new system for the defense too.
