Yeah he and the Bears had a long dispute because they wanted to void guaranteed money if he ever got disciplined for leading with the crown of his head in the wishy-washy new helmet rules.
Was totally the Bears issue and he's been a premier linebacker for the past 4 years. Nothing to see there.
He'd be a great get, but I don't know if it would work
Is he all that great? I honestly have not watched him nearly as much in the pros as I have in college. Would he go with our defense? Should we call Chicago to inquire in your opinion?
He's an excellent player but I bet the cost would be prohibitive
for the Giants. Probably would take a 3rd at a minimum

Among the frustrations detailed:
— Roquan Smith has lost trust by what he believes are their attempts to take advantage of him.
— He feels this entire process hasn’t been a negotiation, just the Bears trying to strong-arm him with a take-it or leave-it deal
— The backloaded offer, which wouldn’t make him the highest paid in actual salary, included proposed de-escalators that not a single player out of the 94 non-QB, $15M+ contracts has. He was offended.
— The deal would hurt the LB market as a whole.
But he wants to get paid and the Jints are cap strapped.
Not going to happen in NY
Not for 2023 and beyond.
Yeah, it's the draft capital that I think would prevent them from making the move, not the contract. They could very easily extend him with a very small cap hit for this year and push the money into the next couple of years when they have very little on the books.
when they are going to need to draft a QB in the next year or two.
Sure they can. What ever pick they would send, would not be enough to move up for a QB. I doubt they would go beyond a 3. Besides, they are not spending big $$ for a player when they are rebuilding the team.
has built defenses with his type of skill set featured, as talented as he is. Giants tend to pour the money into the edges, up front, and at corner(s), and not much is leftover. Smith's a luxury imv.

Remind me, what is his skillset?
And he fits our window. He's still very young
